    Canon WFT-E8A reviews

WFT-E8A Wireless File Transmitter is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice to have all functions of the C300MKII in a Touch Screen I really got this transmitter to remotely pull focus with the C300 MK II camera on an iPad. And of course to change camera settings on the screen as well. It does all this except the slight live view delay and about 15 or less fps being transmitted to the screen. It does touch focus pulls, but the delay must be anticipated and the low fps displaying onscreen distracts from it being flawless operation. For focus pulls on a touch screen I think the new monitor made for the C200 will do a better job, which works for the C300 MKII now. Still, a good wireless transmitter. 4 stars because of image delay and not full fps being transmitted in live view.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good upgrade over the E6 I'm using it with a C300 Mark II. It's a good upgrade over the E6 (much less of a delay with live view) but the fact that there is any live view delay disappoints me. How can my $300 GoPro have a better live view option???? I'd give it 5 stars otherwise. I do like the ability to control my camera remotely and to have metadata info available to several people on set.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product good, Canon software, not so much I have been enjoying figuring out all the ways to use this with my 1DX Mark 2, but am unable to update my iMac to Sierra from El Capitan to use EOS Utility. Canon software, at least for Apple products has always been a little kludgy, with updates few and far between. So far as this transmitter is concerned, it's fast, and keeps a reliable connection, although it's also annoying that this is device is needed for a $6000 camera (but that's another issue...) I'll update this review when Canon updates the software for full compatibility with Apple's latest OS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, but tricky to set up with android phone. When I first got this I could make it work using access points but could not directly connect my Android phone to the camera. (iPhone may be different -- I don't know). It works great once you get it working.... see below for what I had to do. If you are trying to directly connect your phone to the camera (no access point), you may experience the same problem I did. To explain.... you start by setting the camera up for smartphone access, and then you go into WiFi settings on your phone and connect to the camera's WiFi. The phone however will check to see if it can connect to the internet using the camera's WiFi, which it can't. This means the Camera Connect app will not be able to use this WiFi connection to connect to the camera. You can fix this problem, and the fix is different, depending upon your phone. Some phone have a SmartSwitch option (in WiFi settings) which forces them to ONLY use connections that can access the internet and you need to turn this OFF. If you are running pure Android (e.g. a Nexus), you will get a warning on the phone once you connect to the camera's WiFi that says it cannot access the internet. If you tap on the warning, you will then be able to tell the phone to use this connection even though it does not have internet access. I'm giving this 4 stars because it was so difficult to get working and the lack of documentation from Canon. However I will give them praise for working with me until we figured this out (took both of us to get it fixed!).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works flawlessly once you figure it out This device allows me to wirelessly transfer high resolution files to my phone. The instruction manual is not very helpful. Go to YouTube to learn to use this product. Once you figure out the user interface, it works like a charm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from actually works with a very simple interface I was quite reluctant to by a wifi adaptor as I have tried them in the past and found them to be far to technical...I am no technician!! but this one is quite simple and so far reliable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use! The Wireless Transmitter has already been a great tool for my business. I've only had it a week and look forward to upcoming photo shoots with my Canon 1DX Mark II.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Canon 1DX Mark II - Game changer My oh my! Wow oh wow! I use my iPhone 6s Plus with Camera Connect by Canon and this transmitter takes shooting to a whole new level! Setting up was so fast. I got it set up under 30 seconds through the ‘easy set-up’ on the app. The live view is truly live and moves smoothly through the phone. Setting up ISO, SS, and Aperture is so much easier and fast through the phone and you can see much more detail and get different perspectives on what your shot will look like. Now let’s get to the transfer. It does what it’s made to do at such lighting speed I became excited owning this camera all over again. It transmits raws and mp4 videos within seconds into your phone and if you like editing on your phone, you get the full quality straight away without having to transfer to your computer and into your phone. This changed everything to me. Remote shooting opens up a whole new level of freedom with this camera.
