First line of the ActionPan description says: Attaches via Standard 1/4 -20 Mount The mount on the Canon Vixia HF R700 lists Tripod Mount 1/4 - 20 So yes it will work. It is designed for the smaller cameras and works very well. The foam is comfortable and the handle feels solid. I like that you can attach other things to it as well like a level or battery powered light.

Probably not a good idea. Use the LCD viewfinder screen. it would a much more practical solution when shooting with his type of rig.

Can I use this bracket to mount 1 microphone and 1 camcorder on a tripod such that the camcorder points straight ahead and the microphone points 40 degree away from the direction of the camcorder ?
Yes you can do that. However, the ability to mount the bracket on a tripod will depend on the head or whatever quick release mounting plate you need.
