Astell&Kern Roxanne II overview

  • 1Description

Developed through collaboration with Jerry Harvey Audio, the black Astell&Kern Roxanne II In-Ear Monitor Headphones allow you to hear the music how the recording artist and mix engineer intended it to sound, utilizing audio devices such as mobile players, smartphones, tablets, and more.

Featuring twelve custom-made dual-low, dual-mid, and quad high-balanced armature drivers per side, the in-ear monitors have a variable-bass output, which is adjustable from the cable, and delivers frequency ranges from flat bass response up to +13 dB (10 to 100 Hz).

Some additional features are an integrated 4th-order crossover, triple bore with stainless-steel tubing, noise isolation of -26 dB, and the included Moon Audio IEM cables; one 3.5mm unbalanced and one 2.5mm balanced connection. Five sets of silicone eartips, a screwdriver, cleaning brush, and a carry case are also included.

Full Metal Jacket
Each body, cap, and sound bore is machined from one solid block of aluminum with a carbon fiber logo-plate insert
Proprietary Driver Design
This series of (In-Ear Monitors) IEM's were designed to be used as a mastering-reference tool because the high driver was designed for optimum top-end extension with minimal distortion. The mid driver is perfectly flat from 10 Hz to 5 kHz. The low driver is designed for steeper low-pass frequencies with virtually no distortion
SoundrIVe Technology (Quad-Driver Technology)
Roxanne Ⅱ was equipped with SoundrIVe technology, using Jerry Harvey Audio's proprietary quad drivers. Roxanne Ⅱ has a triple-quad driver (12 drivers) configuration that offers a wide frequency range
FreqPhase Technology / Stainless-Steel Tube Waveguide
FreqPhase corrects time and phase of multiple drivers. The waveguide ensures each driver signal arrives within 0.01 ms, resulting in a phase-coherent IEM
Variable-Bass Output Adjustable from Cable
User-controlled low-frequency drivers have an adjustable bass (0 - +10 dB). Frequency ranges from flat-bass response up to +10 dB (10 to 100 Hz)
4-pin Cable Connection with Machined-Aluminum Locking Collar
A 4-pin cable connection with a machined aluminum-collar mechanism provides a more secure and strong connection with the earpiece and will also help to protect it from sweat and dust

    Astell&Kern Roxanne II reviews

Jerry Harvey Audio Roxanne II In-Ear Monitor Headphones (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best In Ear Headphones I've ever heard, for Audiophiles. I bought these headphones along with the Astell & Kern AK380 Portable Audio Player. It was a choice between the Jerry Harvey Layla II's and the Jerry Harvey Roxanne II's. I came across a video on YouTube where Jerry Harvey explains that the Roxanne II's are more suited to Pop and Rock listening where the Layla II's were better suited to Mastering and a highly analytically approach to the music. This reminded me of the difference between my Sennheiser HD-650's and Sennheiser HD-800's. Most of the time I prefer the HD-650's more forgiving and enjoyable nature. The signature of this headphone is one of being extremely smooth, detailed and a highly enjoyable sound. The ability of the Roxanne II's to reveal previously covered over details of the music (as found in lesser headphones) is quite unbelievable and reminds me of my Stax SR-009 electrostatic headphones, a reference headphone in it's own regard. You can adjust the bass to suite your taste which is a very cool future and other manufacturers should also offer this. If you like a very heavy bass and treble signature like what Dr. Dre Beats offers then these aren't for you. If you want a true Audiophile ear sound then look no further. They're incredible!
