Smith Optics H16-GAMWMD Overview

This medium, matte white Gage Snow Helmet from Smith Optics is suitable for skiing or snowboarding and can be easily modified for warm-weather activities such as biking, skating, or skateboarding. Its injection-molded ABS shell provides enhanced high-impact durability and meets ASTM F 2040, CE EN 1077:2077 Class B, CPSC, as well as CE EN 1078 certifications. The elastic, Lifestyle Fit System provides a dynamic fit that moves along with the wearer and flexes around the head, serving to maximize mobility.

Working in conjunction with the durable, nylon snap-buckle chin strap is a pair of ear pads that can be removed for warm-weather activities where safety and comfort can be served by unobstructed hearing and insulation reduction. The sides of these ear pads that face the wearer are perforated, making them compatible with a range of helmet audio chips, and while not listening to music, allow for better hearing than with closed ear pads. The rear goggle lock which can be used to secure eye protection worn with this snow helmet is also user-removable.

For easy climate control, twelve fixed vents maximize airflow and heat dissipation while minimizing cold air drafts. These vents integrate with Smith Optics goggles to provide the benefit of the Smith Optics AirEvac 2 ventilation system which eliminates fogging by driving warm air away from the goggles through external vents and internal channels within the helmet.

Protection and Fit
  • Fits 21.7-23.2" (55-59cm) circumference above the wearer's eyebrows and ears
  • Provides protection against low-speed and high-speed impacts
  • Self-adjusting Lifestyle Fit System is designed to flex around and move along with the wearer's head
  • Lateral user adjustability on the Lifestyle Fit System allows for a more precise fit
  • Durable, adjustable, nylon snap-buckle chin strap
Ventilation
  • Twelve fixed vents maximize airflow and heat dissipation while minimizing cold air drafts
  • Combines with Smith Optics goggles to create AirEvac 2 ventilation system which prevents fogging by pushing warm moist air away from the goggles, through the shell, and ultimately, away from the wearer's head
  • AirEvac 2 ventilation system allows warm, moist air to escape from the shell's top and rear
  • Compatible with beanies or knitted caps to retain warmth when needed
Construction
  • Bombshell construction utilizing an injection-molded ABS shell provides enhanced high-impact durability and dent resistance
  • Ear pads are removable during warm-weather activities such as biking, skating, or skateboarding where safety and comfort can be served by unobstructed hearing and insulation reduction
  • Inner layer of ear pads are perforated for compatibility with a range of helmet audio chips and allows for better hearing than with closed ear pads
  • Zippered compartments secure helmet audio chips
  • User-removable rear goggle lock prevents loss of eye protection
  • Made in the USA
Certifications
  • ASTM F 2040: as per American Society for Testing and Materials, for nonmotorized recreational snow sports, provides effective protection upon a drop of 6.6' (2.0m) onto a hard flat surface, with peak acceleration of no greater than 300 g imparted to a head form within a helmet
  • CE EN 1077:2077 Class B: for European Union and various European Free Trade Association states, for alpine skiers and snowboarders, provides effective protection upon a drop of 4.9' (1.5m) onto a hard flat surface, with peak acceleration of no greater than 250 g imparted to a head form within a helmet
  • CPSC: as per United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, while bicycling, recreational in-line skating or roller skating, or riding a kick scooter; provides effective protection upon a drop of 6.6' (2.0m) onto a hard flat surface, with peak acceleration of no greater than 300 g imparted to a head form within a helmet
  • CE EN 1078: for European Union and various European Free Trade Association states, for pedal cyclists and for users of skateboards and roller skates, provides effective protection upon a drop of 4.9' (1.5m) onto a hard flat surface, with peak acceleration of no greater than 250 g imparted to a head form within a helmet
