Designed by JBL, these Control 28-1 loudspeakers are two-way 8" indoor/outdoor monitors featuring weather-protected circuitry, natural and powerful representations of the frequency spectrum, black enclosures, and JBL's proprietary InvisiBall mounting hardware. This hardware allows you to install the speakers through a hidden access point behind its logo badge. As such, the Control 28-1 suitable for venues, health clubs, theme parks, cafes, or anywhere where foreground/background music—and paging—is a necessity.

What’s the difference between the 28-1L vs 28-1?
What’s the difference between the 28-1L vs 28-1?
The Control 28-1L is a two-way speaker (and doesn't have bi-amp inputs) so it has to have a built-in crossover. The spec sheet says it has a "2nd order low-pass, 1st order high-pass, plus conjugate shaping" crossover.
The L is for low impedance. It doesn't have a built-in transformer for 70V/100V high impedance wiring.
High impedance is good for distributed wiring, for example when you have many speakers/long cable runs and want to daisy-chain them instead of having separate "home runs" to each speaker. That requires an amp that will "step-up" the voltage of the output. The additional step-up and step-down transformations will not improve the quality of audio, and will almost certainly degrade it to a noticeable degree.
The 28-1 has a pass-thru setting, so it can do either high- or low-impedance. The cost of the transformer (which you probably don't want) is why it is more expensive than the 28-1L.

question
How to mount the speaker on the wall
The included brackets have a ball on the end that the speaker mounts to. You can tighten with the included allen wrench at any position you choose. These speakers sound great!
