Ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the hand, Steiner Optics' 8x42 HX Binocular is an ideal all-around optic for most of your glassing needs. The moderate magnification enables you to resolve details in thick brush, and the larger 42mm objectives push the binocular's low-light performance past where smaller ones are usable. All optical surfaces are fully multi-coated with Steiner's proprietary broad-band coatings which help to increase light transmission, improve contrast, and ensure true color rendition across the entire visible spectrum. All exposed lens surfaces are also coated with Steiner's "Nano Protection" which adds a thin film to repel water, dust, dirt, and oils so they stay clear and clean easily. From its 6' close focus to a field of view that approaches wide-angle, the HX binocular will be an essential piece of gear for you.
Complementing the HX's optical performance are construction details that make them durable enough for everyday use. The chassis is made from Makrolon polycarbonate that is impact and corrosion-resistant. Makrolon is also temperature-resistant, so the optical tubes won't expand and contract with temperature fluctuation, which, over time, can cause the optics to move out of collimation; preventing the binocular from being able to achieve sharp focus. The chassis is wrapped with a long-lasting NBR rubber armoring which not only protects it from drops and impacts, it also gives the binocular a slip-resistant grip - especially in cold and wet weather. Its optical tubes are nitrogen-filled to 14-psi and O-ring sealed to make them water and fogproof, even in extreme conditions.
