It doesn't matter what camera you have. The tap-in console allows you to update the software in the lens itself. It's important to have.

I have a Tamron 150-600 G2 purchased through a non-authorized reseller. Will this console work to update gray market lenses?
Asked by: Stacy
Yes, your Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 should be compatible fully compatible with the Tamron TAP-in Console regardless of the market which only affects the warranty in the box. If you own a legitimate Tamron lens the console will allow you to run firmware updates and lens calibrations.

Asked by: joel
The Tamron TAP-in Console for Canon EF Lenses does support Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD. You will need to download free TAP-in Utility Software that will allow you to use the console for lens adjustments and firmware updates. The software is compatible with Mac OS X 10.10-11 or Windows 10/8.1/8/7 operating systems with an Intel or Core2 Duo or faster processor, respectively. Additionally, 1GB of RAM and disk space is required for the free application, as well as a USB 2.0 port for connecting the console to the computer.

question

Where can I find a list of TAP-in compatible Tamron lenses in the EF mount?
Asked by: Michael
Tamron's List of Compatible Lenses for the Tap-in Console is on their website. The list has been updated as of February 2017. I did a quick search for tamron tap-in console and went to the first Tamron website link that was returned in the search. The Tamron link was 8 or 9 links down the page, after all the sales offers. With the February, 2017 update Tamron added support for the new SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 (Model A022). It looks like there are a few other new additions as well.

question

Would anyone recommend using the TAP-in Console as a rear lens cap for convenience? I'm using it with my Tamron 85mm 1.8.
Asked by: Jesse
1. I would not recommend this as a suitable rear lens cap for two reasons: It is not convenient to use it that way and it would almost certainly void the warranty on the product. You can check this with Tamron Customer Service on their website.2. The cost of a generic rear lens cap for your lens is so minimal it would be more of a convenience to purchase one or two of these and keep them handy in case you lose one. Better to lose one of these than the TAP-in console.
