You can also use just one of the Gear's lenses to capture a wide-angle video at 2560 x 1440 resolution or a 5MP still image. In addition to shooting vivid day images, the Gear 360's bright, f/2.0 lenses enable the camera to work in low-light environments. To help with staging, the Gear 360 comes with a mini tripod and can also be used with optional adjustable tripods, such as GorillaPods.

Gear 360 Spherical VR Camera is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 102.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its like Butter Baby! Excellent entry-level 360 Camera On a personal scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. I rated the following items based on my 1 week ownership of this camera: Weight 10, Battery life 8, Interface 10, Resolution 8, Usability of the captured footage 9, compatibility of the hardware 8, Compatibility of the software 7 The stuff that irked me; You need a Samsung S6+ to be able to connect the the camera., the software ActionDirector does not work on MAC but luckily I have a Surface Pro that stitched and converted the footage for me, then I exported to a cloud drive and pulled it down to my MAC in Adobe Premiere.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice toy, but not for serious photographers Just received this camera last week and have been putting it through its paces. It has been easy to use and have done videos, photos and time lapse. All worked as expected. Now for the down side. The videos and photos are not even close to being in focus. It is very evident when you pan into a video or photo. It biggest size it is so out of focus that you can't even identify what the picture is. Looks like it will be a fun toy, but not for the serious photographer. We purchased this to use with the VR headsets, but afraid the picture quality will be too distracting when using a headset.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun-est camera ever! I'm loving my new Gear 360! It's a very different experience using it (I'm used to having to pose myself when shooting pics). Pairs very well with my Galaxy S7, but I don't use it often when shooting. The application for editing works well, and the stitching is as good as I've seen on a consumer product. I deducted a star because sometimes the picture gets soft, not as crisp as I'd like. Best way I've found to shoot is with a selfie stick, or even better, a trekking pole that has a camera mount on top. You hold this above your head and look up at the camera. If your hand is too close, the stitching makes your hand into a very disturbing hoof-like mutation that spoils the picture!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life in 360! This is by far one of the best device, toy and product Samsung has ever brought out. This device is a huge hit with the family! Was originally going to purchase this camera in March 2016 so I could have fun in Austin SXSW but it didnt come out til late summer. Had the pleasure of playing with the camera at ACL festival where samsung lend them out....I knew that was a MUST HAVE item to add to my samsung collection! Its very VERY easy to use and fun to have around! The pictures look amazing, the video is WOW and posting my 360 pics on facebook has my friends and family going crazy how amazing it looks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 360 camera I bought this after looking at several different 360 cameras. I found this one to have the best resolution. Cameras like the Theta S have horrible video resolution. This camera does have some low res areas along the peripheral where the two lenses and images are stitched together, but on the whole, it's really nice. I've used it to shoot 360 photos of our offices and uploaded them to Google Street View. I'll also use it for unique travel videos. One this to note: you don't actually have to have a Samsung phone. I'm an iPhone owner. Granted, I cannot see the live view, nor can I change some settings, but Samsung has indicated with its firmware updates that more and more settings will be changeable on the camera itself, without the need for a Samsung phone. My workflow it simply to set up the camera and snap a photo or record video. I have no way of checking the picture when I'm shooting, but it's a sphere, so there's not much to check. Then I transfer the files of the micro SD card onto my computer. The included software is Windows only. I import the footage and photos into that software and it immediately beings chugging away at it, stitching it together. Once I have the stitched files, I can upload them to YouTube and it automatically recognizes that it's 360 video and enables that user interface so you can pan around. Note that it might take YouTube several minutes of processing time after the video has finished uploading to do this, so it will be a rectangular video where you can see everything at once in the beginning, switching to the 360 interface after about ten to twenty minutes. For photos, I take the stitched files and put them in Dropbox. This allows me to save them to my iPhone's Camera Roll. From there, I use the Street View app to upload the already-stitched photos. All that's left is to tap to add the location of where the photo was taken.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect first steps into VR video I really only bought this to test something out shooting VR, and learned quite a bit. Now, first things first, I would have given this 5 stars but it was a pain in the neck to get this to do anything with any apple products... I had to dig around to find the gear 360 program to allow the video to stitch itself together, but google helped with that. Also did not connect to iPhone, but it is a Samsung product... anyways, for what you pay for you get a good product. Stitching isn't always perfect, and the lenses don't always produce the same colored image, and sun flares tend to show up in only one lens. All things considered though, it was a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VR In Your Hands Ever since I got my first Gear VR headset prototype I've been yearning for a way to create the awesome pictures of MY life in VR rather than just watching everyone else's. Now I have that way with this little beauty. Within 15 minutes of opening the box I had shot the first 360, saved it to my Note 5 & was wearing my VR looking at myself standing there taking my first 360 photosphere. Simply awesome. In 6 days it's go8ng with me on a Bahamas cruise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Deal Breakers and Makers for the Gear 360 Deal Makers: 1. High resolution of 3840 x 1920 (finished 360 video). Most of the competition has a lower resolution. 2. High MP Still Images while taking a 360 pictures. The spherical pictures look very good! Good enough for real estate and business tours. 3. Splash proof which is nice for water sports/activities. 4. Easy, basic usage as a stand alone unit. 5. Single side camera capture. 6. Time-lapse capture Deal Breakers: 1. Viewable stitch line on almost all of my captured 360 video clips. 2. Wireless control only works with newer, Samsung smart phones. My Samsung Note 4 didn't work :( 3. Hard to hold and handle without touching either of the lenses. 4. Must use software on a separate device to stitch video. 5. Stitching software only works on a PC. My Wishlist: 1. Expand the remote capabilities to more Samsung and smart devices like tablets and additional phones. 2. Fix the obvious stitch line in the 360 video that's viewable after processing. 3. Create a handle that'll allow us to hold and trigger this device. 4. It'd be convenient if the camera created stitched 360 video's within the camera. Overall it's a quality built 360 camera with leading capabilities and features. I'd recommend it!
