Sony SRS-ZR5 overview

  • 1Description

Get the sound you want with the versatile SRS-ZR5 Speaker from Sony. This wireless speaker features a 0.55" tweeter and a 2.76" woofer that deliver clear, enhanced audio and deep, powerful bass. This wireless speaker is equipped with Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi, so you can wirelessly pair it to any compatible device and stream audio. In case you don't have any compatible devices handy, you can also line in audio using the speaker's stereo or USB inputs. For an even bigger sound, you can connect multiple SRS-ZR5 speakers together using the SongPal Link and free SongPal app.

The SRS-ZR5 showcases several listener-friendly features, including ClearAudio+ technology, which leverages Sony's digital signal processing to deliver a rich, high-quality listening experience, and LDAC support for transmitting enhanced, high-quality audio. Google Cast is built-in, so you can cast your favorite music apps, including Spotify. The SRS-ZR5's "Definitive Outline" design allows it to blend seamlessly into the background, while still maintaining a sleek aesthetic.

Enhanced Bass
Dual passive radiators work with a woofer and react to the movement of air through the speaker, artificially creating space in the speaker cabinet. This space allows more air to flow through the speakers, enabling enhanced sound—especially at low-end frequencies.
LDAC technology allows you to enjoy high-quality wireless audio via Bluetooth. With 3x the data transmitted of conventional Bluetooth, LDAC provides an enhanced wireless listening experience for all your music.
USB-A and HDMI Interface
Hook up all your favorite devices to the SRS-ZR5 using either a USB-A port or HDMI (ARC). The USB-A port works for connecting and streaming MP3 files. HDMI (ARC) connectivity can be used for monitor and television screens as well as auto-input.
ClearAudio+ automatically adjusts sound settings for an enhanced listening experience. By leveraging Sony's digital signal processing technologies, ClearAudio+ is able to deliver a consistently clear, high-quality sound, whether you're gaming or enjoying music and movies
SongPal Link
Let the music follow you around the house with multi-room listening from SongPal Link, controlled by the SongPal app. It lets you group selected Sony sound bars and speakers together. With Group mode you can enjoy the same music simultaneously with multiple speakers, and Single mode lets you enjoy different music on multiple speakers.
Customize with the SongPal App
Enjoy wireless control of all your party settings using the free SongPal app. You can also select your favorite playlists and cue the next song, without being tied to the DJ booth.
Google Cast and Spotify
The SRS-ZR5 comes with Google Cast built in, so you can cast your favorite music apps from your personal device to your speakers. You can also play Spotify through your speakers, laptop, and TV using the Spotify app. Throw together a playlist on Spotify, or play your favorite album on repeat, then hear it in every room in the house when you connect to multi-room listening via SongPal Link.
Sleek Minimalist Design
A smooth surface and clean lines ensure the SRS-ZR5 blends into the background.

    Sony SRS-ZR5 reviews

SRS-ZR5 Wireless Speaker is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome speakers! Better than a ZR7 on sale. I bought these speakers as a combo A/V speaker system so I could listen to music from my mobile phone and use to listen to both computer and television for entertainment and creative purposes. While having calibrated headsets and speakers are great, it is important to hear from the perspective of potential customers. Also, the sound is great for a small room like my bedroom. Here are some major points: Pros: Balanced Bass and Treble NFC is a major plus if using multiple mobile devices Ability to hook up as Stereo I will potentially hook up as surround sound with a sound bar Cons: Pretty Heavy, nothing big. I was just surprised how heavy it was As a side note, I listened to the Sony ZR7 and I actually found that while it has better treble than this, I feel that I have many more benefits from two SRS-ZR5s than a single ZR7 at a similar price point. If you need a stereo speaker, I'd suggest you get this guy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sony SRS-ZR5 Headline for your review: My original idea was to add them to my Sony HT-ST5000 7.1.2 soundbar. To convert them to 7.1.4, put them back for surround sound, Which I could never achieve because they are not compatible, it is incredible that it is the most powerful sound bar and the one of higher price of Sony and does not accept these speakers SRS-ZR5 (2) Par. Very unfortunate. And then to put them by wireless connection is very, very difficult In a word Sony did not make the configuration of the speakers easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Difficult set-up & poor sound quality I bought 3 SRS-ZR5 speakers for wireless use throughout the house. I was able to connect all speakers with my modem, but was only able to get two of them to play simultaneously on one occasion. Even blue-tooth connection was erratic. Sound was poor. I did not realize that all content from my iPhone could not be played via the Sony wireless software (as is the case with blue-tooth.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I recommend this speaker. The service was prompt and entirely traceable prior to delivery. The speakers work superbly as a surround complement to the soundbar and subwoofer. SongPal is useless and I found the best way to set up by looking up the info on the Sony site specific to the speakers. Remember to preset and test the volume as shown through the surround settings. Once the sound system is on you can't individually change the volumes. Great strong sound for a little speaker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the sound I love the sound of these small speakers. I also like the easy set up. However, I bought two of them to place in my wife's office working as a pair and stereo connected. This is where I have problems where they disconnect frequently from the WIFI and I have to go all over the set up process again and some times one of them gives me hart time to pair with the other. Could be me or my WIFI network I do not know... Otherwise, great product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good at the right price B&H had 2 ZR5's for the price of one, so I pulled the trigger. Using them as rear speakers connected to the Sony CT-800 sound bar. Set up was semi-painful, had to call Sony Tech Support a couple of times to help out...can't remember the last time I had to call a manufacturer for tech support but turned out to be unavoidable as the very sketchy documentation (in-box, on-line) just didn't cut it. After resetting to factory settings, finally got them working and that somehow involves the Sony Music app I had to install on my iPhone to configure the wireless surround settings. If this sounds complicated - well it is. But the result is good - nice surround sound. I still can't figure out how to adjust volume levels for the rear speakers (ZR5's) as they are a tad bit lower than I'd like relative to the sound bar. Maybe I'll dive into that at a later date.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good and easy solution for surround speakers to soundbars I puchased two speakers, after buying a Sony soundbar. The result was very good. The speakers deliver a good sound, and are a perfect match to the soundbar. I just wished I did not have to pay so much for a pair of these speakers. But the result was worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kept Going to Standby Used with a Sony XBR 900E TV and a Sony HT-NT5 Soundbar. It kept turning to standby all by itself. Also - sound level is so low that I wonder if they are really helpful.
