Bring all of your Sony TTL flashes into the Nissin Air System with 2.4 GHz radio transmission by mounting them to the Air R Receiver. Using an Air 1 Commander for the Sony ADI / P-TTL system and the Air R Receiver, photographers can now set up and control numerous flashes in an off-camera setup at distances up to 98'. The receivers add wireless slave TTL functionality with support for high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second, manual power control, and manual zoom, with the ability to select between 8 channels and organize 3 groups.

Connecting to a TTL flash is simple as the receiver has a hot shoe on the top for communication. For strobes and manual flashes, the Air R also has a PC sync terminal for basic connections. Mounting the receiver is simple as well with a cold foot on the bottom with a 1/4"-20 thread for stands. There is also a flip-out stand for placing directly on a flat surface. Additionally, it runs on 2 AAA batteries. This radio receiver features the newer Sony Multi Interface Shoe and is not directly compatible with the older flashes featuring the Sony/Minolta-style Auto-lock Accessory Shoe without the use of an optional adapter.

Air R Receiver for Sony Flashes with Multi Interface Shoe is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delightfully Simple This does what it says. It's a flash trigger for SONY multi-interface shoe flashes that work with the Nissin system. This lets me adapt my Sony hvl-f43m so I can shoot in tandem with my Air Commander and two d1700a flashes. It loses a star from me for the same reason as other Nissin products: The documentation. There is more here than in other products, but it took a lot of work for me to figure out why the light is sometimes green and sometimes red, and also to realize the flash itself must be in TTL mode for the trigger to work properly. Once that was sorted out, it worked beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive but quality radio receiver for Sony Although it looks all plastic, the receiver has some intelligence with communication to the Nissin Air 1 commander, and puts the Sony in the game. More expensive native flashes and wireless (radio) triggers are available, but at twice or more the cost. Yes, I would purchase (and did) for other cameras and flashes to be used as standalone and separately controlled speedltes with the master controller (Air 1). Note: I have not compared to the Sony camera models for similar compatibility of features, but this receiver is a quality product at an inexpensive price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent accessory for the Nissin Air 1 Commander system I've only used this unit twice since receiving it a couple weeks ago, but found it very easy to sync and use with my Air 1 Commander system utilizing Nissin flashes for OCF applications on my Sony a7ii and a7rii cameras. Appears to be durable enough and battery life so far has been very good. The price was also very reasonable given the build and performance. After my brief history with this unit, I would recommend this product for anyone currently looking to expand their off-camera flash capabilities with the Nissin Air Commander system.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed It's compact and priced very reasonably. Wanted it to work, but found it to be unreliable. I have the Nissin i40 connected to it but the combo wouldn't fire consistently. No rhyme or reason. Allowed lots of time for recycling, new batteries, different flash modes, but it just wasn't reliable. Missed shots while playing around with it at home. The trigger works perfectly with the Di700a so I'm inclined to believe the receiver is the problem. Contacted Nissin, hopefully they have a fix. For now, can't recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with Sony F60m flash Took a little trial and error but I got it to work great with the Sony F60m flash. The key was to put the flash in TTL mode even though the commander is in Manual mode. With The commander and flash in TTL mode, the flash will function with TTL metering. With commander in manual mode the power setting of the flash can be controlled by the commander. Commander also triggers the Sony and the Nissin d700 flash, both together and in groups. Very happy with this purchase I finally have the ability to trigger my OEM Sony flash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice way to use flashes not made by Nissin I had a Sony compatible flash (Metz) that worked fine on-camera. I then purchased the Nissin Air and the Di700A flash to get the flash off the camera. After a bit of a wait, Nissin released this receiver. I can now mount the second Metz flash on this unit and have two flashes that work great together with a single Nissin Air mounted on the camera. It's easy to set up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A few caveats I purchased this combination because it was the only off camera flash equipment available at the time. It is relatively low cost and when you purchase low cost equipment there are some gotchas! One of them is that you can't see the displays in bright sunlight, the very time when you will probably want to use off camera flash to fill in the shadows on people's faces. The instructions are very poor. Why doesn't Nissin hire professional writers to explain how their products work rather than serving up pigeon English! I was forced to contact the US distributor who very kindly went through a full flash set up with me.Yes, it will provide simple off camera flash and the Commander unit you can get set up to vary the power on each flash. It is really quite simple when you are told in good english how everything works. Thanks again to Nissin's US distributor! By the way, do not throw away the flash stand! You need that to screw into the top of a light stand. It is far more secure than just using the stand's cold shoe. Also be careful attaching the Commander to your Sony. There are little plastic tabs on the side which are liable to break off, rendering the Commander useless. Luckily the US Distributor says they will repair under warranty because it is in reality a Sony design issue rather than the unit itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This works Started with Minolta's wireless flash 5400xi, Nissin Air R is a long awaited solution to the Sony flash system. I'm happy to report that Nissin Air system works! After a few experiments, I am able to say that it reliably provides wireless TTL flash, TTL HSS flash, and multiple flash ratio control. The Nissin Air 1 commander was mounted on the Sony A7ii. 2 Nissin Air receivers provided communication with a Sony HVL-F56AM and a Sony HVL-F58AM. Both flash were connected to Nissin Air receiver via Sony ADPMAA adapters. I did not get to try a 3 flash setup. The added bonus was the ability to simultaneously trigger a Yongnuo YN560-TX Manual Flash Controller which adds additional manual controlled flash to the setup. After years of frustrations with the limitations of Minolta/Sony flash system, I am very happy with Nissin Air setup.
