question

I am going on an Alaskan cruise through the Interior Passage. Four ports. Helicoper ride/dog sled run. Canon 5d Mark IV. Heaviest lens 24-105. Do you think this will work as a general lightweight all-around? Senior lady who wants an easy way to take photos without shaking using different lens. Thank you!
Asked by: Linda
One of the great advantages of today's digital cameras is the very high ISO ratings they have. With these high ISO's, you can shoot at a commensurate high shutter speed. Shooting at 1000, 2000, 3000 shutter speed should negate mild and even moderate shake. Of course, if you have a muscular condition that creates more than a moderate shake, then yes, I think this is a good suggestion. It is light, compact even with the three little legs. It will be good even on board ship. Of course, you will not need it for the helicopter or dog sled. I would also recommend a monopod head. This will allow tilt up and down while the monopod is up and down with the legs deployed. Here is a affordable one: Oben VH-R2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # OBVHR2. Here is a mid level quality example: Induro TH2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # INTH2. Both of these heads have Arca-Swiss type quick releases. That is to say, the included quick release is a desirable industry standard which allows instant on and off the head. Have fun and don't take any wooden pictures.

If you have a tripod fluid head that has a flat base with either 1/4-20 or 3/8″-16 female threads on bottom the base, then yes, the fluid head may be used with the Tiltall Tripod BM-868 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod.

Please look at the rubber twist lock. Turn that and a leg extends from inside the mini tripod ring.
