ridiculous price for such a small amount of carbon black - I WILL find somewhere more reasonable

Not scientifically ultrafine

I bought this to attempt carbon black staining of biological tissues, because the label says ultra fine, and Wikipedia says ultrafine particles are 0.1 m or less in size, which would have suited our purposes. After mixing the particles in solution with water, and pushing it through a 0.22 m filter, the solution came out entirely clear, meaning that the carbon particles are larger than 0.22 m and were caught by the filter. This isn't really a complaint, and I'm still giving it 5 stars, since the product doesn't claim to be suited for biological staining, and is probably great for its intended purposes. But in case any other researchers out there happen to be looking for a cheap source for carbon black stain, I thought I'd mention it. (Also, note to researchers: we tried some liquid fountain pen inks, including one made from carbon black, and those *did* pass through a 0.22 m filter.)
