PFY H2 overview

  • 1Description

Capture stabilized handheld video footage with the H2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer from Pilotfly. It supports mirrorless and DSLR cameras weighing up to 4.9 lb and delivers 3 axes of stabilization. The handle features an ergonomic design and a four-way joystick that provides for optimal motion control. A Li-Po battery is integrated into the handle that provides an operational runtime of up to 26 hours.

Using a 32-bit Alexmos controller with triple motor control units and two integrated IMU sensors, the H2 offers 360° of unrestricted panning, 220° of up tilt and 100° of down tilt, and 100° of left roll and 240° of right roll, all with 0.01 to 0.04° of control precision.

The camera mounting assembly of the H2 offers multiple points of adjustment to allow you to find the center of gravity for all axes. The camera adapter plate is also left/right adjustable to support different cameras. All adjustments are done without tools but rather using thumbscrews and push buttons.

The H2 also offers two 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes on the sides (on one each side) for attaching accessories and one on the bottom for mounting on tripods, monopods, and other support devices.

The H2 also boasts superior construction, with the three axes made of CNC-machined aluminum alloy.

    PFY H2 reviews

H2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is great for my use This is my first 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer, so far i am happy with its out of the box performance. Ease of setup and portability are great for my use. Suggesting to get the 2-hand-holder for better camera movement lessening physical strain for extended operational use. My major challenge here is learning how to operate the Graphical User Interface (GUI) Software; which lacks any layman's instruction for calibrating the gimbal to its desired configurations. Creating more easy tutorials and instruction for its operation to any camera setup will be of value to making this item popular. Responsive email customer service & support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from H2 piloy fly.on a7s2 system Great gymbal, only issues ive incountered so far are with the sony gmaster 24-70 2.8 its very front heave and can not get the camera to properly balance as the unit doesnt allow for the camer to go back far enough eith out interference and even if i get the x and the y asix decent the yaw is just terrible and cauees jitter strain and vibration on the motors. The app is alot but i am not a pro and this is my first unit so i have some learning to do. Otherwise its small, build wuality is very nice. I use it with a shoulder rig set up i built from an existing shoulder rig i have. It responds nicely. Any help with balancing the gmaster would be appreciated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great technical support I purchased the Pilotfly H2 a little while back and noticed it started consistently leaning to the left. Well it sort of alarmed me and I was somewhat distraught - to make a long story short I watched David Dugdale's review (who had a similar problem and with tech support was easily fixed) I followed suit and called pilotfly.de and within minutes my issue was resolved by the first person answering my call. Kudos to pilotfly.de for restoring my faith in their product. I love flying this thing with my Sony a6300 Thanks Brandon Li, David Dugdale, Pilotfly & B&H for opening the door to some creative cinematography. Cheers...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wondrous. From opening the box to trying out the first stabilized shot was maybe... ten minutes? From reading reviews I had worried that I would need to delve into unfamiliar software. Instead, the Pilotfly H2 simply worked! I've not used the software and might never. Now that I'm familiar with the Pilotfly, I can get it balanced in about four minutes or so. I love the flexibility of the four modes. I have a Merlin Steadicam which served me well, but this gyro stabilized Pilotfly is less sensitive to wind, can tilt up and down as needed, and even be carried on a monopod. It's fantastic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ronin Killer I recently purchased a Ronin M for weddings. I used it on two weddings and it was great. But it did not fit well with how I shoot. It was a pain setting up. It was a bigger pain transporting it. And overall it was too bulky and stood out like crazy which doesn't match my shooting style. This thing is a piece of cake to set up. Comes with a case for easy transport. Is much smaller and more discreet. And the shots are just as good if not better. Plus the ability to attach a monopod on the bottom is outstanding. This thing is cheaper, has a longer battery life, and essentially outperforms the Ronin in every category. If your camera fits on the this buy it now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and super smooth This is a very recent purchase of mine, so I've only used this twice so far. I'm using it with a Canon 80d with a 14mm Rokinon wide angle lens. From what I can tell, it works extremely well...very smooth and multiple modes to select from. Some people struggle with balancing their camera on a gimbal/glidecam, but I simply watched a YouTube video, followed the instructions given, and balanced it with ease. Have a little patience the first time you balance it, and you'll soon find out that it's not very hard. One you have it balanced, turn it on and let it do its thing - so easy to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pilotfly H2 Gimbal full of potential! I'm using this product with a GH4 and 12-35mm MFT lens. Right out of the box, after rudimentary balance, the H2 worked well. Hooking up the H2 to the software interface on a MacBookPro was not as seamless as I would like it to be. I had trouble making the bluetooth connection work and the USB connection would cut out at inopportune times making it necessary to start all over. I believe the potential is there once I become more comfortable with the interface, but it has been cumbersome initially. Other than that, I'm happy with the general performance with the standard issue camera/lens combo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely amazing tool Purchased this after considering glidecam, ronin M, and other hand held gimbals. The battery life is amazing. I've been able to travel for a week without having to recharge batteries. The weight limit is also great and much better than other hand held gimbals. I've been using this with the A7SII and A7RII. Only complaint is that it is difficult to balance a light camera like mirrorless cameras with very heavy and long lenses. It'll balance but the camera will have to be so far back that it restrict some movement. Only really an issue with the 24-70 2.8 GMaster. Only solution I can think of is adding a compact weight to the hot shoe to balance it out better. Otherwise this is seriously a must have item for the videographer on the move. Deff recommended for weddings.
