Store, carry, and protect your sensitive and important data with the CalDigit 2TB Tuff USB 3.1 Type-C External Hard Drive. With a capacity of 2TB, you can use it for extra storage or backing up your videos, photos, and files. The Tuff connects to your computer via a USB 3.1 Type-C port, which has a max throughput of 10 Gb/s. It is also backwards compatible with previous versions of USB. The USB Type-C port is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 computers.

The Tuff is an IP57 certified device. This means it has shock protection, dust protection, and is protected up to half an hour of immersion in water up to 1 m (3.28'). The silicon design also has a plug to keep the USB Type-C port fully closed. The Tuff is compatible with Mac and Windows computers (reformatting may be required).

USB 3.1 Type-C
The USB Type-C interface is compatible with not only USB 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1, but also Thunderbolt 3 computers that have the Type-C interface. This added flexibility means that everyone can utilize the Tuff, even with Thunderbolt 3.
Shock Protection
The Tuff has been engineered and certified with U.S. Military MIL-STD-810G standardized testing protocols. The Tuff was dropped repeatedly multiple times on different areas and it functioned seamlessly without any damage.
Waterproof
The Tuff is protected for up to 30 minutes of immersion in water up to 1 meter (3.28 ft). Feel confident in taking the Tuff on any adventure knowing that it can even endure harsh underwater environments. Immersion protection is effective while the silicon plug for the USB-C port is fully closed.
Dust Protection
The Tuff's protection from solid particles will prevent dust and sand from damaging the drive.
Bus Powered
No separate power supply is needed as this drive is powered directly from the USB port on your system

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slow, Junk and Stupid Is No Way to Go Through Life, Son Build quality is amazing, but the drive started making horrible noises, stopped spinning all the way up, and rendered itself inaccessible after just a month and a half. After this happened, during a restart my computer(s) wouldn't even boot up while the drive was plugged in. Purchased to be storage for my smaller-sized files and a place to keep mobile projects until I get home to my RAID. Never even made it to any mobile projects. All this drive did was sit on my desk for six weeks, and still... This isn't what I'd consider to be a "cheap" hard drive at all, so I didn't even think about it conking out for a few years. Had no other backup because of it. Lost everything. Additionally, in the few times I moved larger files to it from my RAID, the speeds were closer to that of a cheap external USB drive (less than 100MB/sec). The outside looks tough and feels tough, but the parts of it that make it a functioning hard drive are junk. At best it's not worth its cost, at worst, well, it's junk. Slow. Junk. Stupid. Buy three cheap USB drives for the same price and hope one out of three of them can last a few years. I think your odds are much better.
