This 1 lb Sodium Metabisulfite from Photographer's Formulary can be used as a preservative in developers and can acidify fixing baths. It can also be used in place of sodium sulfite in some developers, particularly in two-solution formulas where the increased acidity of the metabisulfite inhibits oxidation. Additionally, this can be substituted weight for weight with sodium bisulfite.
