Chimera 3526 overview

  • 1Description

This collapsible fabric grid limits the light spread of a 24 x 32" Chimera softbox to 60°.

Grids are essential accessories for any lighting system. A grid alters the shape and intensity of the light output from your softbox when it is mounted on a light head. Consider a grid as a painter would a brush, or a sculptor would a knife, or chisel.

Fabric grids are hand-stitched, and collapse easily for storage or transport. Use of a fabric grid will result in a narrower spread of light. The spread of light will be determined by the density of the honeycomb mesh, and the distance of the subject from the light.

Fabric Grid for Small - 60 Degrees is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from How Did I Ever Get Along Without These? I just got the 60 Degree Fabric Grid for my Chimera Small Video Pro soft bank and all I can say is, How did I ever get along without these? Based on my research, a 60 degree is ideal for the Small and X-Small Video Pro soft banks for video shoots (1000 watts and less). Individuals I've spoken to who have gone with the tighter pattern grids on Small and X-Small soft banks for video production just don't like them. 60 degrees is perfect for sculpting and containing light spill on most one and two talent video shoots. If you have the really large soft banks and plenty of light wattage, then take a look at the tighter grid patterns. Highly recommended. Wish I had gotten these years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is meant to Well made and does what it is meant to. If you are only going to get one grid for your Chimera I would probably get the 40 degree version but 60 is good when you don't need such tight control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improve your lighting This Grid is a great average angle grid that will greatly improve your lighting skills. I'm glad I purchased it when I did. The very first shoot after I got the grid, we had to, HAD TO, shoot a couple of interviews in a meeting room with a bunch of glass. This grid not only helped keep the light from reflecting off the glass but it helped keep it looking darker so the background would fall off compared to our interviewees in the foreground. It is also very well built, and the industry standard. It's very simple to put on your chimera, and folds really easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changes everything I've been lighting with Chimera softboxes since they were invented, but never got the grids. Wow, what a game changer! It keeps the light from spilling onto the background and areas you don't want it. I like the 60 degree, because it doesn't cut down on the intensity of the light and softness, but directs the light toward the subject much cleaner. I bought one for all my softboxes.
