Sirui SUT024X overview

  • 1Description

When the other tripods become too heavy, take the T-024X Traveler Light Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10S Ball Head from Sirui instead. The legs are made of eight layers of weaved carbon fiber. Weighing 2 lb, it is a compact and light tripod. The center column and the legs have a half-turn twist lock for easy and quick setup. At the bottom of the center column is a hook to hang a sand bag or camera bag, for extra stability, when shooting on a windy day. Reverse the center column to do macro work, or with the included short column shoot at the lowest height of 8.2".

The four-section tripod goes as tall as 58", with three independent leg angles to provide stability on uneven terrain. Rubber feet prevent skidding on smooth surfaces. On the top tube section of the tripod, foam grips provide comfort when handling in cold temperatures. Fold the legs 180° in reverse to make the tripod more compact for travel and storage.

The Arca-type compatible ball head comes with a quick release plate. Compared to the previous generation head, the locking knobs are larger for the panning base, the ball head, and the quick release. On the opposite side of the locking knob of the plate, there is a red safety release button. The release button lets you slide off the quick release plate without completely opening the quick release clamp.

Rapid Center Column
Same twist-lock system as the legs, with a half turn to open for quick setup.
Reversible Center Column
Reverse the center column for macro and low-angle photography.
Center Column Hook
Located at the bottom of the center column is a hook to hang a sand bag or a camera bag, for extra stability, on those windy days.
Independent Leg Spread
3 independent leg positions to accommodate any uneven terrain and provide extra stability.
Reversible Folding Legs
Fold legs 180° in reverse for compactness and storage.
Rubber Feet
Maintain traction on any terrain.
Foam Grips
Provides comfort for handling the tripod in cold temperatures.
Red Safety Release Button
The release button lets you slide off the quick release plate without completely opening the quick release clamp.

    Sirui SUT024X reviews

T-024X Traveler Light Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10S Ball Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact travel and hiking tripod! I was looking for a very light, sturdy, and moderately tall tripod for hiking. Researched many makes and models and I ended up purchasing this little guy. It is light, sturdy (use a D610 with 105mm lens without any issues), and very well made, The ballhead with arca-swiss style clamp is solid and clamps tight. It folds down very compact. Hooked to my hiking bag I do not even notice the additional weight. The twist locks on the legs click into place. Nice positive feeling. The twist lock on another tripod I had was not nearly as nice. Great little tripod that delivers big!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compared with T-025X I own both the Sirui T-025X and T-024X. Both are superbly designed and priced hundreds of dollars less than similar tripods from other manufacturers. It is, however, hard to get their specifications right, either from the B&H listing or from the Sirui website. My measurements are weight with head: T-025X 30 oz, T-024X 33 oz; Fully extended height with head: T-025X 48.5 in, T-024X 58 in. The folded circumference is larger on the T-024X because of the adjustable column and the legs hitting the head differently. The folded lengths are 13 in and 15.5 in respectively. In use, the larger minimum leg diameter on the T-024X makes it slightly more stable. The stability of both benefits greatly from a weight hung on the spring loaded hook (24X) or carabiner (25X). The substantially greater height and adjustable column make the 24X more versatile. In packed form it is significantly larger, but very little heavier, than the 25X.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from amazing weight and travel tripod It's sturdy enough, especially if weighted down with a bag, to hold my D750 + 70-200 2.8 lens, although I would still be a bit careful. There's a bit of shake, but assuming that I don't knock it around, it'll be fine. For the trade off of 2lbs weight, it is good. I absolutely love how light it is! Carrying a tripod just in case is now a no brainer. I am a professional photographer with a heavier tripod, and this will be my go to for travel purposes. My main concern is how to convert the rubber feet to spike feet options..... tbd

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gitzo Performance for Less Cost I own two Gitzo tripods and they have been great. My wife needed a lightweight tripod for travel but didn't want to spend what Gitzos cost. We bought this Sirui tripod with the C-10X ball head (vs. C-10S). This tripod is almost an identical clone to my travel sized Gitzo. In fact, the Sirui has a few features that were missing from my Gitzo such as the hook to hang weight under the tripod for added stability and the foam grips on the legs. I like the clips on the Sirui tripod that set the stance of the legs better than the design on my Gitzo. My experience thus far is that Sirui gives you Gitzo type quality at a fraction of the cost. We have been very happy with our purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tripod. This is a quality tripod. The weight is perfect for me. The bottom legs are strong, sturdy and do not bend. The quick drop legs system is smooth. The Accra Swiss head works so smooth I love the quick release system. The metal is not cold like other tripods. The bag is well made and easy to carry and use. There is only one con, the screw to attach the plate to the camera is a Allen Wrench only. Add a ring lift to the screw head and this tripod would be perfect. I like the Allen Wrench, leave it, just add the ring twist. Most of my shots are landscapes. It would be great if I did not have to remove the plate to access the battery, but that's pretty hard to accomplish for all cameras. Note do not get the previous model the 025, this 024 is so much better. Thanks to Sirui for such a quality light weight tripod. One last comment I bought and extra plate with the ring on the screw for easier battery access. It is just not as smooth and the quick release lock does not work. So I'm using the one that came with it, which takes longer and if I drop the Allen Wrench in the field I better have a spare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is awesome There weren't any reviews for this tripod when I bought it, but I took the risk anyway. It was exactly what I was looking for. This thing is probably as light as you can go before you start sacrificing stability. If you have the center-column fully raised, there is a hook where you can hang something heavy for more stability. It'll fit in your luggage, and if you take it hiking, you probably won't even notice the weight in your backpack. I'm not an expert on ball heads, but I have had no issues with it either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and efficient The light weight of this tripod for backpacking is the reason I purchased it. A bonus is the rapid expansion of the legs, usually found with clip locks vs. twist locks, and the taller size compared to my old Gitzo. I have not been in the field yet, but all looks great at this point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not strong enough for a full sized DSLR. This 2 lb carbon tripod looked too good to be true. Rated at 13 lbs of load, I thought it would support my Nikon D7100 and 18-300 mm zoom lens. In very still conditions, it might, but in real world conditions, I suspect it would not. Just tapping on the rig indoors set up clear vibrations. I will be looking at tripods in the 3.5-4 lb range to have the heft needed to support my gear.
