    WD WDBP2P0020BBK-NESN reviews

2TB My Passport Wireless Pro USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Photographers! Works well but took a moment to figure out how to transfer SD cards and look at them wirelessly. I shoot with Sony cameras and am an android user. I needed to install a generic file viewer app on my phone in order to see the raw files through the My Cloud app. I was not able to preview any AVCHD video files due to their unique file structure, I'v not tested the mp4 video files yet but expect them to work okay as it is currently a more mainstream format. I shoot wedding photography and commercial video on location. I wanted a way to quickly back up my media before heading home and this drive really fits the bill.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool but quality control is somehow lacking Good product for backing up SD cards directly into othe unit or compackflash oy Cfast cards through an external car reader. The only thing is you dont know for sure everything is stored correctly unless you check the jpegs via the mycloud app but it does not read RAW files. You can store the, but cannot see the pictures. You can see jpegs when jpegs are stored. One thing I cannot forgive Western Digital, is that the mac address written on the unit is not the right one. So you have to go through your router to see what is the real mac address of this unit before butting mac address restriction on in your network. I am still going to use at least one Colorspace UDMA 2 or 3 with this unit, in case...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wireless hard drive This hard drive is brilliant. I recently upgraded from the Corsair Voyager 2 and it used to by my favorite until this drive. The setup is very intuitive and moving files to the drive is simple. The ability to have plex native on the drive makes it a great option to watch movies if you have young children will on the go. In addition, having the ability to charge a device usb device from the hard drive is a bonus. I absolutely recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great once I figured out how to set it up. Pros: Once I got it set up, I was able to use the drive to backup my SD Cards and to load movies. I shoot using Compact Flash cards. I don't have a lap top, so when I am on site, I make a backup of each CF card by inserting an SD card into my 7D Mk II and copying the contents from CF to SD. Now, I can have a second set of back up photo copies on the drive. Two additional features 1. Backup battery charge for iPad and iPhone 2. Load movies/tv shows onto the drive and watch them wirelessly on my iPad Cons 1. Opened the box and there was a card that said to download the app and run the app to get everything working. I wasted 45 minutes trying to get the thing to work. What the card SHOULD have said is Attach drive to computer. Read manual and watch setup videos 2. Running the app and trying to log into the drive's WIFI can be hit and miss. I will sometimes get Cannot log in Wrong Password 3. Drive shows both 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz wireless networks being broadcast. I can only get on to the 2.4Ghz. I get Wrong Password for the 5.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Device, I definitely reccommend it! Honestly, I just opened this last night, but I'm pleased with the functions of the product and all that it is capable of. The reason I bought it, was because I'm switching from using my MacBook Pro all the time to using a new iPad Pro more permanently. This allows me a way to access loads of media files from either device without wires. I can connect to it and still stay connected to my home network. It's functionalities are probably beyond what I need, but it is nice to know they are available if I need them. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I just got it and its a little big, but I suppose for all it does, it makes it worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I manage before getting my Passport Pro? As a photographer who travels to locations that lack the amenities of power or internet access, the My Passport Pro will fill the gap. I had a small problem getting started but the Tech Spupport at WD guided me through the process. They were easy to understand (spoke english without an accent) and responded quickly. The free 30 day service that accompanied the unit made things happen for me. Having the Passport Pro will allow me to leave my laptop at home and function with an IPAD, IPHONE or by itself. I will also be able to back up my photos and avoid having to purchase additional memory cards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Complete Dud! Got this one because it was recommended by B&H staff to use in the field as a backup. First card I put in to test it...failed to completely download. Then I tried to update the firmware and it locked up mid way. Reading the forums on WD page it seems this is not uncommon. In one thread the WD Tech people even acknowledged an issue with Sandisk cards and that they had no solution. NO WAY would I depend on this for a backup!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unstable, flimzy, and wrong informations I am experimented IT user. The idea of this unit concept is great for a photographer: you could backup up files from SDHC and SDXC cards directly and Compact Flash & Cfast cards via a USB reader. The problem is to make it work properly and securely. I thought replacing mu old Colorspace UDMA2 with this My Passport Wireless Pro but the problem with this My Passport Wireless pro is that you don't know if the backup is done or not. First problem: does not backup SDHC card properly (does it partly even if using well working vards) Second problem Wifi connection are very unstable third problem: at first could not connect the unit to my home network using a Mac Address filtering system because the MAC address inscripted on the unit was not the right one. Yes, you read it right... Finally the dash boardis somehow also pretty unstable with a wifi connection directly to the unit. I will work with it again today and if not better results, it will return to BH.
