Pelican 1615 Air Overview

Combining strength and lightness, the black Pelican 1615AirNF Wheeled Check-In Case without Foam is watertight, crushproof, dustproof, and optimized for travel. For travel by air, Pelican has aggregated available airline rules for check-in dimensions with the goal of creating a case that conforms to their requirements. Of course there will always be exceptions, so it's wise to contact your carrier before departing.

Your 1615AirNF case is made of a super-light, proprietary HPX polymer with honeycomb structural elements to make it up to 40% lighter than most other Pelican polymers. This confidence-inspiring design has been drop-tested on concrete on all sides and corners while loaded with gear. Not content to stop there; the case is also tested with a 28-pound steel dart dropped from a height of 3 feet and submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 3.3 feet. The wheels are roll tested over 1000 yards with loads at 5 mph.

Fully featured, the case has ABS double-throw latches that accept a user-supplied padlock, a watertight O-ring gasket, an automatic purge valve, and stainless steel hasp protectors. Users will appreciate the new, stylish conic curve lid shape, rubber overmolded handles, and an extending trolley handle. Additionally, for easier case ID, there's an attractive, removable polycarbonate card holder that may be placed on the front or side of the case.

question

the pelican 1615NF can ship to HONG KONG...?
Asked by: Law
While the case may be shipped to Hong Kong, it appears some of the included free accessories currently included with the case may not be shipped to Hong Kong. If you contact our Sales Department either by e-mailing [email protected] or via Live Chat, they should be able to assist you with placing your order to ship the case to your country.https://bhphotovideo.secure.force.com/PrechatBeginPage?

Will the Pelican 1615NF hold a Nikon 600mm F4E ...

Will the Pelican 1615NF hold a Nikon 600mm F4E lens with attached hood in shooting position, coupled to a Nikon D5?
Asked by: Hiran
The D5, the NIKKOR 600mm f/4E, and the hood will be approximately 28" in length. However, the width of the case is in only 29.6" so there is not enough room for enough padding. 3" is a minimum for such a large lens. As a motion picture camera assistant who routinely worked with $100,000 cine lenses and shipped them frequently, I can tell you that shipping an expensive lens with the hood on is not recommended. The case could be dropped and the leverage of the hood could cause very expensive damage to an already expensive lens. I understand the desire to have the camera, lens and hood all set ready to go because no one wishes to lose a special shot. However, for the long haul, I strongly recommend that you not ship the lens attached to the hood or even the camera. Shipping your camera and lens unattached will mean your gear will arrive safely and be ready to work properly.

I am looking for something to transport a large format (think Speed Graphic) camera and 4 or 5 large format lenses mounted on lens boards. Which would be the better option - the pick and pluck foam or the dividers?
Asked by: Edward
Dividers offer the most flexibility and the maximum use of space. Foam, while offering a little more protection, once arranged for the specific gear is difficult to change, if at all. Most likely a new foam set would be required.
