TRITON AUDIO PHANTOM BLOCKER Overview

Triton Audio's Phantom Power Blocker Connector safeguards your equipment from phantom power while allowing signal to pass freely in both directions. Connect it to the cable which plugs into your gear to ensure that you won't be blowing up your beloved Dynaco pre.

Phantom power can be applied to either the male or the female side of Phantom Blocker's XLR connector and will not reach the opposing XLR connector, protecting devices like computer interfaces that are connected to mixers with phantom power engaged. Phantom Power Blocker also prevents shorts when connecting unbalanced TRS cables to XLRs.

  • Protects vintage preamps
  • Blocks phantom power while allowing signal to pass freely
  • Ensures unbalanced connections do not short circuits
  • Safeguards against damage to input transformers and under-dimensioned phantom power circuits
  • Protects gear that is connected to mixers with global phantom power

Got this for my Zoom F4 it will protect my gear If someone forgets to turn off the camera 48v phantom power on the inputs back to your device (usually when you want to connect a condenser mic directly to the camera) the F4 outputs get fried, because the outputs are lacking protection/transformers, this Blocker is just a safety item to protect my equipment

A tale of two boards

I used the Triton with two PA boards during two shows last Saturday. The first one, a Behringer X32 Compact, didn't handle it too well though it was connected directly to my XLR out of the unit. The second show using a Behringer XR18 and I had a short patch XLR from the unit to the Triton before it connected to the channel. That rig went very smooth. The first show didn't have professional sound while the second did. That was probably a big influence. So with the pros running the sound I am giving it 5 starts. Definitely worth the purchase.

Works as advertised.

I bought this to leave it patched into my bass amp's DI inside its rack case to avoid any possible issues with phantom power as our band uses a few different sound companies. I tested it at home prior to my recent gig and it had no noticeable effect on the DI signal as promised. I patched it between a phantom powered Sansamp to test that it does, in fact, block the 48 volt signal and it worked. It's a simple, durable device that does what it says it does.

Will this work to stop phantom power from reaching my ribbon mic?
Asked by: Eli
Yes, it is a protection device for passive ribbon microphones Phantom blocker blocks Phantom power while leaving the audio signal intact. Phantom power can be applied to either the male or the female side of Phantom Blocker's XLR connector and will not reach the opposing xlr connector, the audio signal travels without restriction in both directions.
