You've Already Spent More Than Most For An On-camera Microphone. Might As Well Get This Unless You Can Find An Equally Effective Substitute, Which I'm Sure You Can Find Or Make One Yourself If You Try Hard Enough. Unless You Have Absolutely No Plans To Use The Mic Anywhere Outside, You'll Need One Of These. You Might Be Able To Get Away Without One In Mild Weather, But Why Take The Chance. Yes, It's Pricey, And For The Money I Wish It Provided Better Protection Against The Wind, But It Does The Job For Most Of My Uses. I Don't Shoot In Hurricane Force Winds.
