A versatile pair of high-performance lenses for Canon EF-mount DSLRs, this Zeiss Otus ZE Bundle includes wide-angle and normal-length primes, along with a dedicated hard protective transport case and two lens gears for use with follow focuses when recording video.
The widest lens in this bundle is the Otus 28mm f/1.4 ZE, which features a Distagon optical concept and apochromatic design to reduce distortion and produce clean, well-corrected imagery. Anomalous partial dispersion and aspherical elements are used to control aberrations and a T* anti-reflective coating suppresses flare and ghosting. Representing a slightly longer-than-normal focal length, the second lens in the bundle is the Otus 55mm f/1.4 ZE, which also employs a Distagon optical design in order to produce well-corrected imagery. Anomalous partial dispersion glass is used again, to control aberrations, and a floating elements system maintains sharpness and resolution throughout the focusing range. Both of these manual focus lenses are further characterized by robust metal housing and rubber focusing rings for enhanced control, as well as bright yellow-colored focusing scales for ease of use.
Included with the two lenses is a dedicated Otus Transport Case, which accommodates each of the lenses, as well as an optional third lens, during storage or travel. Additionally, one medium and one large Lens Gear are also included for refined focusing control in conjunction with follow focuses during video recording.
Otus 28mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF
Bright-eyed and wide-angled, the Canon EF mount Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 is an optically-refined prime poised to deliver a high degree of resolution and clarity in nearly any shooting condition. Featuring an apochromatic design, and utilizing the Distagon concept to reduce distortion, this lens uses a series of eight anomalous partial dispersion glass elements and two aspherical elements to virtually eliminate chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the aperture range. A floating elements system is also used for consistent performance throughout the focusing range and a Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating suppresses lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. Equaling the optical prowess of a Strigidae-inspired lens, the Otus 28mm f/1.4 is also characterized by a robust physical design for intuitive, exacting handling.
The wide-angle focal length pairs with the bright f/1.4 maximum aperture to suit working in broad variety of lighting conditions and is well-suited to a range of applications, including landscape, architecture, and interior photography. Accentuating the range of control, this manual focus lens is complemented by haptic design elements, including a 120° rotational focus throw, rubberized focus ring, and an all-metal lens barrel with high-visibility yellow scale markings.
Prime wide-angle 28mm f/1.4 lens is designed for full-frame format Canon EF DSLRs, and can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 44.8mm equivalent focal length.
Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited to photographing in difficult lighting conditions and also affords greater control over focus placement when using selective focus techniques.
Two aspherical elements help to suppress spherical aberrations for greater clarity and consistent illumination and sharpness from edge to edge, regardless of the aperture setting in use.
An apochromatic design makes use of eight anomalous partial dispersion glass elements to nearly eliminate chromatic aberrations in order to reduce color fringing and color artifacts in front of and behind the plane of focus.
Employing a Distagon optical concept, this lens delivers virtually distortion-free performance that pairs well with the broad angle of view.
A floating element design places variable air gaps between select lens groups to realize consistent performance throughout the focusing range, from 11.8' to infinity.
Zeiss T* anti-reflective coatings have been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections in order to provide greater image clarity, contrast, and color fidelity.
Manual focus design is accentuated by a rubberized focusing ring, 120° focus ring rotational angle, an inset dial window, and bright, high-visibility yellow depth of field and distance scale markings.
An internal focusing mechanism maintains the overall lens length and, benefitting the use of circular polarizers and graduated neutral density filters, the front filter thread does not rotate during use.
The sophisticated optical system is housed within an all-metal lens barrel, which is built with the narrowest of design tolerances for refined precision and durability.
This ZE-series lens supports Canon DSLRs' electronic interface for camera-based control over exposure settings and in-camera focus confirmation.
55mm f/1.4 Otus Distagon T* Lens for Canon EF Mount
The Canon EF Mount 55mm f/1.4 Otus Distagon T* Lens from Zeiss is a standard focal length premium lens optimized for full-format DSLR camera sensors. A wide maximum aperture combined with Zeiss' renowned optical glass and T* lens coating allow the 55mm f/1.4 to transmit an impressive degree of detail and color rendition even in low light situations. A floating element design equips the lens for consistent image quality, minimal aberration and field distortion throughout the focus range.
Complementing the premium optics of the 55mm f/1.4 Otus lens is a metal lens housing as evidence of a build quality that matches the lens's imaging prowess. Additionally, an all-metal focusing mechanism with an extended rotation angle allows precise manual focusing from 20" to infinity. Borrowing from their cinema lenses, Zeiss labels the focus scale with highly-visible yellow markings. The rubberized focus ring improves tactile feedback and helps to enable exact focus placement.
Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture for shallow depth of field and low-light performance
Engineered for optimal image quality using a DSLR with a full-frame sensor
Zeiss T* anti-reflective coated lens system enhances image contrast and clarity
Floating element design with 12 elements in 10 groups
All-metal internal focus mechanism with extended angle of rotation for precise focus placement
