Photographers reaching for a lightweight pack for carrying a minimal amount of camera gear or personal items for a quick day trip will appreciate the black Essential DSLR Camera Backpack from Manfrotto. As the name implies, the Essential has a small, padded, removable, interior camera compartment with 2 touch-fastening dividers for storing a small DSLR with an attached standard lens, a second small lens and accessory or two. Of course, one could use the space adjacent to the camera compartment for storing additional gear or personal items. And with the camera compartment removed or re-purposed, the bag can be easily converted for short jaunts about town. With a rear, padded, zippered compartment you can also bring along an up to 13" laptop, too.

Opening up the spacious main compartment, one sees a small, zippered compartment on the rear wall with an organizational panel on top consisting of four side-by-side slip-in pockets – two of which are for pens or markers. Thirsty photographers will be happy to learn that there's an exterior, side pocket for a water bottle or other accessory. And on the opposite side of the pack one will find a touch-fastening strap with a slip-in pocket below for securing a compact tripod or monopod. Your Essential DSLR Camera Backpack is easily carried by the top handle or worn on the back with the padded, adjustable shoulder straps. The straps are extra long for use with bulky clothing such as winter parkas. In the event of a shower, the pack is constructed of water-repellent nylon.

Camera Storage Possiblities
The removable, padded camera compartment is designed to hold a minimal amount of gear that might consist of the following: 1 small/mid-size DSLR such as a Nikon D5500 and an attached 18-55mm zoom lens, and a 50mm standard lens. One could of course use the area outside the camera compartment for additional gear.

Essential DSLR Camera Backpack (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would puchase this backpack as an everyday kind og backpac For a camera bag this cheap I had to purchase it! If you're a small time photographer and just have a camera with a kit lens or 2, then it's a backpack i'd recommend. If you're looking for something to hold more equipment then a camera body and 2 lenses then go with something else. I'm happy with this backpack because it not only has a padded area for my camera but it has room for my other everyday belongings (books, pens, note pads etc.) and it has a dedicated laptop pocket. The only picky things I have is that its a lot smaller then I expected, the whole thing is soft shell

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price, Durable, Light, and Spacitious Pack Got this backpack and took it on a pretty dirty mountain biking trip. Had it loaded up with my DSLR with 3 lenses, two GoPros with all the mounts and accessories and still had plenty of compartment space left. I even used the laptop compartment to hold my camelback water bladder and didn't have water or condensation seep through to the other parts of the bag. After the ride down the mountain I was able to just use a damp rag to get all of the dirt and mud off of the bag with ease and had no lasting stains or anything. Great bag/pack definitely recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good quality bag, but a little shy of enough space First, the quality of the bag is solid. It feels comfortable. It's just not quite enough space. For my on location shoots I travel light as possible. I could quite do that with this bag alone. I took my Mark 5d iii, a couple of flashes. two sets of extra batteries for Camera, one extra for each flash. A few other small items I cannot remember off hand, it was tight and I did not feel too comfortable with items except for my camera which was in the nice compartment provided. If it was a little larger and had some more compartments, it would be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel pack Bought it to take on a vacation to Canada. Carried everything I needed including my Nikon D7000, two lenses and a travel tripod, and reduced my pack weight by 4 lbs. ,compared to my main Manfrotto pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spent. I managed to purchase this item when it was on sale for $40. My last camera back had seen better days and the discount seemed more of the right time purchase. But once I began making use of it, I couldn't believe how this simple design could hold so much equipment. It's sleek design and heavy cushion on the back of the backpack make it easy on my back during travel. The hand strap located at the top is also a great option for it has an incredibly sturdy grip and strong sew in. I like the DSLR compartment box and the free space on the top. It allows me to pack different types of equipment, depending on what I need for a particular shoot that day. It really is a steal, even at full price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent BAG Wow. I bought a cheaper bag before this one and had to return it for faulty zippers. This bag literally has everything you need to take your cameras, lenses and random accessories. I really like not only the solid zippers, but there's a second measure of security with Side Strap locks... JUST in case the bag were to open... the camera still wouldn't fall out. Inside the velcrow adjustable padding is easy and perfect to adjust and protect your gear. I LOVE this bag. it's perfect. buy it . you won't be disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Pack But Not Well Designed. Good bag, very well constructed, and not bad for the price, but less than I had hoped for as a camera bag/carrying case. The single opening of the entire back of the pack to access the camera, which sets low in the back pack, is not convenient or easy to access and cannot be accessed without setting the entire pack back pack down flat on a surface. No quick access to the camera while wearing the pack. Only one compartment divider provided and it fits a DSLR with a larger lens, but there are no compartments for other lenses or dividers to provide separation of other equipment. Separate dividers/cases have to be purchased for any other equipment and these will block access the few pockets on the inside back of the backpack. Tablet pocket is well padded and easily accessible. This is a good bag to get you to your destination, but is not a good walk-around bag once you're there.
