FEISOL TT-15 Reviews

Great Little Tripod

I was seeking a tripod to use hiking with my Nikon Zf and Nikon 24-120. Shy of a larger and heavier tripod, the Feisol will fit in a bottle pouch inside or outside my pack. Having the 3 positions is great depending on needs for stability. It's very solid but as a review mentioned it can exhibit very slight rocking probably to do with the screw and flex of the rubber pad. My Markins has a void in the base so only contacts very close to the screw. I used a plumbing washer I had that fit perfectly and offered wider support. Now it's very solid. Cheap solution. I show the size of the washer in the images.

Am I able to use the FLM38FTR BALLHEAD with SRB60 clamp on the small tripod?
Asked by: Barbara
It might, but probably not at the lowest setting on the tripod. The base of the tripod is 40mm and the base of the ballhead is 55mm. As long as you don't use the tripod at its max lowest setting you'll probably be OK.

Would a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead fit on this?
Asked by: A
Well, it might. If you refrain from using the tripod in the lowest position, where it can take max. load, the BH-55 will certainly fit. However, the base of the BH-55 is 74mm wide, whereas the plate of the TT-15 is only 40mm. That means, for higher load the bearing area of the TT-15 may be too narrow and therefore instabile. Given that the TT-15 is intended as light weight travel tripod, and it works really well for that purpose, mounting a BH-55 on it will ridicule this purpose. I use it with the Sunwayfoto XB-28, which takes up to 4.5kg load and fits perfectly.

The Oben base is too large in diameter to fit on the TT-15 legs.

question

How does this tripod compare to the Really Right Stuff Ultra Pocket Pod?
Asked by: Karl R.
I have both the TT-15 and the RRS Pocket Ultra. The ultra is lighter and more compact. The Feisol legs are a little wider have better grip IMO. Both are good. But lower weight and compactness being the main objectives the RRS wins. That said it's hard for most people to drop $100+ on a something that has legitimate competition at a 1/3 the price.

question

Could this Feisol TT15 mini tripod still work w an RRS BH55 pano clamp w lever release ball head which has 2.9 base diameter? Reluctant to get another head so hoping this could work even if it is slightly large. Please advise. Thx in advance!
Asked by: Blanca
I also have a RRS BH55, way too big for the TT15. I year a Gitzo G1177M to which I added a Kirk quick release clamp. Works great and permits full operation of the tripod legs.
