Glyph Technologies Blackbox PRO Overview

With an electro galvanized, cold rolled, coil steel, and aluminum enclosure, the 2TB Blackbox PRO USB 3.2 Gen 2 External Hard Drive from Glyph Technologies is designed to protect your important data from the elements. Inside this rugged housing is a 2TB hard drive featuring USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity, making it simple to connect directly to Mac computers, as it comes preformatted HFS+. The drive is also compatible with Windows based computers; all that is needed is a quick reformat of the drive. Regardless of the operating system, the Blackbox PRO hard drive spins at 7200 rpm, supports a transfer rate of up to 260 MB/s to transfer even large files quickly and efficiently, and is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Included with the Blackbox PRO is a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a removable external cover, and an external power adapter.

Enterprise Class
With a capacity of 2TB, this enterprise class drive features data transfer speeds of up to 260 MB/s and is built for demanding workflows and mission critical projects.
Universal Compatibility
Featuring a 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, the Blackbox PRO is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1. It may also be used with Thunderbolt 3, but will not achieve Thunderbolt speeds.
Time Machine Ready
The Blackbox PRO is formatted for macOS and is Time Machine compatible right out of the box. It may be easily reformatted for Windows.
Stay Cool Under Pressure
Don't be afraid to put the Blackbox PRO to work. The rugged aluminum shell acts as a heatsink, keeping the internal hard drive at its optimal temperature to deliver higher sustained speeds.
Comprehensive Warranty
Every Glyph drive comes with their 3-2-1 warranty, which is three years of full hardware coverage, including the cables, two years of Level-1 data recovery, and one year of advanced replacement.

Can I use this drive with a USB C iPhone 15 Pro Max for photo storage?

While the Glyph Technologies 2TB Blackbox PRO 7200 rpm USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 External Hard Drive does have a USB-C cable to connect to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I would use an external SSD instead to take advantage of faster transfer speeds. A great option would be (B&H #SAE612TB) as it is faster and pocket sized, making it easier to travel with.

Yes, the Glyph Technologies Blackbox PRO comes with a manufacturer's warranty which includes 3 years of hardware coverage, 2 years of level-1 data recovery, and 1 year of advanced replacement.

The 12 TB model is listed as "Enterprise" in the title, however is the internal HDD itself (not the casing unit) being included as part of the enterprise-quality claim too (i.e. regarding warranty and MTBF)?

The Glyph Technologies 40TB Blackbox PRO RAID Desktop Drive BH #GLBBPR40RDT3 uses Enterprise grade HDD. Booting would depend on the capabilities of your motherboard.

will this work with RAID 5 for video editing?

A RAID 5 setup requires at least 3 disks. The Glyph Technologies 40TB Blackbox PRO RAID Desktop Drive (2 x 20TB, Thunderbolt 3), B&H # GLBBPR40RDT3, has 2 disks. You can still use it for video editing, but it can only work in RAID 0, 1, JBOD, and SPAN modes. If you are looking for a RAID 5 array, I would recommend looking into the Oyen Digital Fortis 5C 50TB 5-Bay External Drive Array with SoftRAID 8 Premium Kit, B&H # OY5FU3C50TV8, which does support RAID 5.

Can this drive be used on it's side so it stands up vertically (so I can put four of them side-by-side)?

The Glyph Technologies 20TB Blackbox PRO USB 3.2 Gen 2 External Hard Drive (Open Box) is only designed to safely sit horizontally. However, they can be stacked vertically.
