With an electro galvanized, cold rolled, coil steel, and aluminum enclosure, the 4TB Blackbox PRO USB 3.2 Gen 2 External Hard Drive from Glyph Technologies is designed to protect your important data from the elements. Inside this rugged housing is a 4TB hard drive featuring USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity, making it simple to connect directly to Mac computers, as it comes preformatted HFS+. The drive is also compatible with Windows based computers; all that is needed is a quick reformat of the drive. Regardless of the operating system, the Blackbox PRO hard drive spins at 7200 rpm, supports a transfer rate of up to 260 MB/s to transfer even large files quickly and efficiently, and is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Included with the Blackbox PRO is a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A cable, a removable external cover, and an external power adapter.

Enterprise Class
With a capacity of 4TB, this enterprise class drive features data transfer speeds of up to 260 MB/s and is built for demanding workflows and mission critical projects.
Universal Compatibility
Featuring a 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, the Blackbox PRO is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1. It may also be used with Thunderbolt 3, but will not achieve Thunderbolt speeds.
Time Machine Ready
The Blackbox PRO is formatted for macOS and is Time Machine compatible right out of the box. It may be easily reformatted for Windows.
Stay Cool Under Pressure
Don't be afraid to put the Blackbox PRO to work. The rugged aluminum shell acts as a heatsink, keeping the internal hard drive at its optimal temperature to deliver higher sustained speeds.

The 16TB has been a game changer! I definitely would recommend the Blackbox to anyone looking for a quality external drive.

Power Issues

Drive worked great for the first month. After that, I began to have intermittent power issues. I have gone through all of the typical trouble shooting (swapping usb c cords, tried different ports, even power adapters). Seems as though Glyph is using a very cheap Sata power adapter within the enclosure.. it's the only thing I can conclude to. The drive itself seems reliable but that's because Glyph doesn't manufacture those. Buy with caution.

Your router would need to USB to have a hard drive connect to it. Then the computers can connect via your network.

I asked if I can use this drive on my 2010 MAC Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.5. You answered: "If you have a USB-C port, you can format this drive as needed for your OS." My old computer only has USB inputs, NOT the newer USB-C. Can this drive work with my old computer? Please let me know as I really need a hard drive for editing and backup THANKS SO MUCH! Micki

Yes, you could connect the Glyph Technologies 4TB Blackbox PRO 7200 rpm USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 External Hard Drive to your computer's USB-A ports with the included USB-C to USB-A cable. However, please keep in mind that the drive's speed would only go as fast as the USB version your computer has.

The Glyph Technologies 4TB Blackbox PRO USB 3.2 Gen 2 External Hard Drive cannot be bus-powered. You will need to use the included power adapter.
