    Elgato Systems HD60 S reviews

Game Capture HD60 S High Definition Game Recorder is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great Device but could be better. Pros: Small, compact, powerful, top notch video game capturing in HD. Simple 3 cable hook up and only takes a few minutes to download the program and fine tune the settings to your preferences. Cons: Editing program is very basic, most likely meant for live streaming and making random videos. You will need another editing program to do precise and clean editing. Does not capture any gameplay on PS3. The Real Talk: Does exactly what it's built for and you'll need a computer or external hard drives with loads of terabytes to cover all kinds of games and having to get another editing program would be kind of a drag for some people. The fact it doesn't work for PS3 (like the original Elgato) kind of hinders some gamers out there as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Best in the Market First, this Capture Card was my second that I have owned jumping from the 360 to the Xbox One. I am not a heavy user for creating videos until I have discovered the specs on this. The HD60S is the first capture card that I have known to not lag from Xbox to computer. Yes, it needs an active USB power source when not in use such as watching Netflix, which is the only downfall when you are not recording or streaming, is that you need to still have an active power source to make make the HDMI work as the Capture Card is the main Hub source. Second, I was interested in the streaming because I only streamed when I was living in America. Now that I have relocated, it is hard to stream because my latency reaches 190-250 daily because I am on an island. This capture card does no latency at all meaning lagging if you plan to stream using a high ping QOS provider. My network settings are 64Up & 3 down. Now let's look over quality, I am using the Mac Beta interface because it is still in the works for Elgato, but it is insanely easy to use because of the basic settings that are not advanced for a grade school student. The quality of 1080 at 30fps is remarkable because I love how clear it is on a screen when rewatching your capture films again. The problem with 1080 60fps is that if the game is able to play 60fps then it is completely glitchy on screen were the frame rate is dropping while watching. The storage space that you need is a big amount because recording from an hour to two takes up about 20-30gb and it is recording a format with H264. When streaming, the quality outputs to YouTube or twitch 720p and down res to 480. The response from Watching live is like 7-10 seconds. If you have any questions about the card, feel free to ask.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Should have went with avermedia live gamer portable 2 I really wanted to like this, and when it works, it works okay, but not great. The sound software wanted to take over my system and not allow me to switch back to my internal sound card when not using the capture card. The result was that you tube would be muted after each commercial. The pass through video to the TV was fuzzy some times, but did not affect recording quality. The live streaming was cool, and worked as expected, maybe even better than expected. Had some issues recording chat as part of the stream or recorded content from the Xbox. Ordering the chat cable to try and resolve this. I feel that should have been included, otherwise the recorded video is only game play..kinda boring. Overall I would give it 3.5 stars because of: 1. Not including the ability to record commentary /chat as part of the units abilities. 2. Somewhat fuzzy pass through to TV, not recording. 3. Sound card hijacking when not using the capture card. The good. Video recorded quality was good. Small in size (would have been nice to have a travel case) Other products tried: Avermedia Game Capture HD 2, it is larger, but records internally, works without glitches, but you need a hard drive to put inside it. The newer Avermedia live gamer portable 2 would probably be my capture card of choice if I were to do it over again. It is both small, and records to SD cards, so no worry about filling up my computer hard drive. It is more standalone, and seems to have an easier chat integration without needing other items. Downside is it cost a little more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little HDMI Capture device While I plan on doing a little Game Capture with this device, the main selling point for me was that I could use my Laptop as a monitor while I'm doing field/studio recordings with my Sony A7SII, and even do redundant recording straight to the laptop (Only in 1080p, regretfully) I would love a 4K version, but this one gets the job done!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still some issues with OBS + mac I was hoping I could figure out a workaround to make this capture card work with OBS on mac, unfortunately I haven't found a solution yet. The broadcasting software that Elgato made is working in the meantime. Still would say it's the standard for streaming for good reason

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great card for the price! Upgrading from the Elgato Gaming HD, which only did 720 @ 60 if you were playing at 720p. Can now record at 1080p 60 and stream at 720p simultaneously using OBS. Great product, no issues, highly recommend it for your capture / streaming needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! Does the job, and it does it very well! Very little to no lag, and it works great on my laptop. You miss out on a few features compared to the non-S and pro, but you really can't complain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for Mac users! This does not really work with a Mac. It says Mac compatible, and that means you can see your camera only when using their software. Neither OBS or mac pick up signal.
