I just got it recently, but it seems to work extremely well. I had no problem at all with the AA slot. I can't understand what one would need instructions for. To show which direction to insert the batteries? And I had to laugh with those that struggled with the two buttons that didn't do anything. Those are to test a 9V battery, which it does very well. Take a close look between the two 'buttons' and you'll see '9V' etched into the case.
