Create dynamic two-axis time-lapse and real-time videos with the Syrp 2-Axis Genie Mini Motion Control Kit from B&H. The kit includes two Genie Mini motion control devices and a Pan Tilt Bracket that configures them in a way that one of the units controls the pan axis while the other controls the tilt axis. Each of the units features an internal motor and is controlled wirelessly over Bluetooth using the Syrp Genie App for iOS and Android devices.

  • 2 x Syrp Genie Mini Panning Motion Control System

Compact enough to fit into a small carry bag or even your coat pocket; the Syrp Genie Mini is a portable and easy-to-use device for creating smooth panning motion time-lapses or real-time video. Control and setup is done wirelessly using a Bluetooth connection and the Syrp Genie App for iOS and Android devices. To accommodation experienced and beginning time-lapse shooters, the app provides a useful set of presets so you can start shooting right away. A lithium-ion battery provides 48+ hours of time-lapse and 5+ hours of smooth continuous panning on a single charge, with a micro-USB cable included for re-charging the battery.

Please note: An optional Link Cable is required for connecting your camera to the Genie Mini.

2-Axis Genie Mini Motion Control Kit is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs to include Genie=>Mini Cable This kit is fine. However, this kit is generally used with the base Genie. I know it doesn't have to be, but usually this is the case. The ad for the system SHOULD MENTION that it does not come with the SYNC CABLE that is required to be run with this system. As the base Genie does not come with it either, if one buys the Genie and this dual-Mini set separately, the two systems cannot be linked until this cable is purchased. Luckily, for me, I did not buy these separately thinking I'd run right out and shoot a Pro job. This lack of a critical cable should at least be clearly addressed within the ad copy ... or the cable included? THANKS.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dear Syrp I am writing this review in the hopes that someone from Syrp may read it and that this review may prompt some app changes that will turn the Genie Mini from an OK device into a great device. Ive been using the Genie Mini for about a month now and these are the issues I think need addressing: 1. The Genie Mini senses if it is positioned horizontally or vertically. When vertically the Genie Mini app limits the range of the tilt axis. Its impossible to do a 360 tilt. This is because Syrps assumption is that the Genie Mini is mounted on their pan/tilt bracket and that the lens would hit something. However, not all vertical applications require this bracket and not all lenses would hit. Even if using the bracket what if I want to use the vertical Genie for a camera roll as opposed to a tilt? Nothing would hit but its impossible to do because the app does not permit this limitation to be disabled. 2. The app can only handle 2 Genie Minis at a time. One is presumed to pan the other is presumed to tilt. Thats it. I want to use more! What if I want a pan, a tilt, a roll, and use a 4th Genie mini to drive a slider? Yes, I understand Syrp wants to sell their original Genie to drive a slider but lets face it the original Genie is a behemoth when it comes to weight (I know because I own one) and it just isnt a good choice for traveling. Its very easy to adapt a Genie Mini to drive a slider. Please change the app so at least 4 Genie Minis can be used on one camera to serve 4 different functions! Youll sell more units and you can even sell accessories for the mini to do things it cant do right now. 3. I want to set up 2 time-lapse cameras at the same time. Each with a Genie Mini. Right now I dont think this is possible with the app. All these changes are not mechanical changes they only require an app update. Please give us that update!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wanted this to work so badly---it worked badly There are great videos out there made with this....mine was problematic. It's cheaply made. Not professional gear. You can get professional looking results - if it works consistently. I will never take this product near a client. Glad I tested it--it failed over and over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good device so long as you recognize its limitations Overall a pretty straighforward device: it does what you expect, and reliably. My primary concern is the construction - it is a bit flimsy but fine so long as you don't touch the camera while in motion. I use it for time lapse (Nikon D810/610 and 14-21 mm primes) and was used to changing the shutter speed / iso via the control dials during lighting changes. Such a technique is just not possible with this device because touching the camera during a time lapse will result in a huge jump in the video. Also, the plastic knobs for the attachment screws feel like they won't last very long (but that's speculation and they'd be easy to replace). The other niggle I have is with the software: overall it works well but every now and then the pan axis will shoot off at full speed in the wrong direction when you're adjusting a start or end point. Not a big deal, but it is annoying, causes lost time and should be easy to fix with some simple math inside a few lines of code. As others have noted, I can't imagine using it for video when capturing audio. It's not loud but it is audible. Overall a good, reliable device.
