    iHome iSP8 reviews

iSP8 SmartPlug with Remote Control is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very unreliable This plug, while in theory is very desirable as it enables you to control whatever plugs into it from anywhere in the world via internet. But in reality, this is a piece of junk. Here are the reasons: 1. At the start, the user is required to download iHome control app (iOs or Android) to establish connection to the plug. But that's not the bad thing. The bad thing is the app is poorly written and the firmware in the plug itself do not interact well. This makes it difficult to link the plug to your home or work wireless network. You may have to turn on airplane mode then turn wifi back on in order to make the connection. Also the plug does not work with 5 GHz band! 2. The plug is controlled through a cloud server. This means if the server is down or having hiccups, you would not be able to control your plug remotely. And iHome (SDI) maintains a rather unreliable cloud service for this eventhough it is free with the purchase of the plug. You would have to establish an account with iHome (using your email address). So, some technicians at iHome can theoretically play tricks on you if they know who you are and don't like you! 3. The plug often lose connection with the server and it does this randomly. In other words, after rebooting the plug (resetting), it may work for awhile then suddenly stop working whenever it feels like it! Save your money. Don't waste it on this junk!
