Built with a USB 3.1 Type-C controller, the X99-E LGA 2011-v3 ATX Motherboard from ASUS is designed to fit in cases that support the ATX form factor. This 12 x 9.6" motherboard supports Intel Core i7 processors, the LGA 2011-v3 socket, and the Intel X99 chipset. The supported operating systems are Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (32/64-bit), and 7 (32/64-bit).
The ATX form factor of the X99-E has eight DIMM slots that are able to support up to 128GB of non-ECC and unbuffered quad-channel memory, as well as Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules. The supported memory speeds are 3200 (OC), 3000 (OC), 2800 (OC), 2666 (OC), 2400 (OC), and 2133 MHz. There are also a total of eight SATA III 6 Gb/s ports, one SATA Express port (compatible with two SATA III ports), and one M.2 port. Additionally, there are three PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots and two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, with the type of support for the PCIe 3.0/2.0 slots dependent on whether the installed CPU supports 28 or 40 lanes. USB 3.1 connectivity is integrated with one Type-C port on the back panel, which also has four USB 3.0/2.0 Type-A ports and four USB 2.0/1.1 Type-A ports. Internally, there are four USB 3.0/2.0 ports and four USB 2.0/1.1 ports available through the internal connector. Using the Realtek ALC1150 8-Channel High Definition audio codec, this motherboard can support 8-channel (7 speakers + 1 subwoofer) HD audio.
The X99-E LGA 2011-v3 ATX Motherboard is equipped with multi-GPU support via 4-Way AMD CrossFire technology, NVIDIA Quad-GPU SLI technology, NVIDIA 3-Way SLI technology, AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX technology, and AMD 3-Way CrossFireX technology. ASUS has also designed this motherboard with features such as AURA Lighting Control, Gigabit Ethernet, and LANGuard. Additionally, support is offered for ThunderboltEX 3, an Intel-certified Thunderbolt 3 add-on card that enables bi-directional transfer speeds up to 40 Gb/s, video bandwidth for 4K/UHD displays running at 60 Hz, daisy-chaining for up to six devices, and USB Type-C compatibility with device charging up to 36W.
