    LG AN-MR650 reviews

AN-MR650 Magic Remote Control with Voice Mate is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awkward Design B&H would get 6 stars, if possible, for price, convenience and selection but LG's design of this remote is poor at best. I have the previous version used on a 2 year old LG and it's laid out well but this remote is so poorly laid out it can't be held and operated easily with one hand. The wheel and directional buttons are so poorly positioned on the body the bottom of your hand has nothing to grip while operating the controls with an index finger. It would probably be acceptable if operated with a thumb but that's not how remote controls, as well as LG's previous models, are traditionally designed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems pretty good. Again poor manual. Basically my comments are the same as my review of the UH6500 tv. The remote control has tremendous potential but when going through what it actually does with the tv it gets very confusing very quickly. I suppose that i will learn how to do all the things the remote will do over the next year or two but somehow I think the manual should do that more quickly. For example, it's easy to get into the various options the remote presents, and sometimes it's easy to get results, but other times it's not. There also should be an easy exit to get out of the options. Maybe there is but it's not an easy find because its use or where it is is not explained very well. It all comes back to the manual. All my comments and criticisms would sound silly, I'm sure, to the younger people who have been immersed in technology all their lives but I (been involved with computers since the seventies) have not. So why isn't there manuals, even if they cost, available for us middle knowledge people? Yes I would recommend this remote but only with the above comments. If they are technically proficient-yes if not, be aware of the potential problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DOES NOT WORK WITH A DISH NETWORK RECEIVER I purchased the LG Magic Remote AN-MR650 to be used with my 70 LG TV, a DVD player and a Dish Network Satellite receiver. After spending much time trying to get it to control the Dish Network Receiver without success I called LG tech support. I worked with the remote for 45 minutes with a less then interested technician I was told the MR650 was not compatible with my specific receiver. I went ahead and tried 3 different dish receivers (722k, 222k, 211k) none would work with the MR650. The LG tech said, well, guess your gonna have to keep your satellite remote to control your satellite and the Magic Remote for the TV. I guess there's nothing Magical about this remote. Web searches and other resources have proved fruitless. Summing it up: DON'T BUY IF IT YOUR A DISH NETWORK CUSTOMER!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Point and Click Mouse Especially recommend the AN-MR650 and the 6500 version of this LG tv (versus the base model 49UH6100) if you will frequently use the Web portion of this smart tv. The point and click is much more suitable when using the on screen keyboard for non-bookmarked entries. Have not tired the Voice Mate in the early going. As a slight negative, the AN-MR650 requires an unusually steady hand in order to click on the correct spot--slowly getting better at pointing and clicking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work on my LG OLED55CP7-U TV The unit turned the TV on and off, but it could not select a setting or an input. In fact, every time I tried, the TV screen flashed the message, "This remote is not compatible with this TV." I now see that a manual that I downloaded from LG mentions an AN-MR650A remote, whereas the one I bought does not have the "A" on the end. I'll see if B&H carries the "A" version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Device good, manual poor The device is easy to use for simple tasks such as accessing Netflicks and other internet sites. However, there are several other functions on the remote that the downloadable user manual (see B&H webpage fir the remote) does not describe or explain very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty nice features Very nice remote - just got it so I haven't used it all that much yet but it seems to have some pretty nice features. Has a mouse-like selector, microphone and works somewhat like Suri and Google combined. I think we're going to like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased as a spare for LG OLED55B6P This remote is the same one included with 2016 OLED55B6P TVs. We use the remote for viewing movies on our home network and really give the pause button a workout. The pause and play buttons are also very useful when playing YouTube videos.
