Nanuk 918 Reviews
Well built
This is a super well made case that fits a variety of lenses easily and snuggly. I have two. One for leica r lenses and the other for canon fd lenses
Rugged case
Very well constructed. Virtually crush proof. Latches are sturdy but not lockable. There are metal lined holes at both front corners for a padlock. Metal hinge pin is a nice feature.
Just right for me.
This turned out to be just right for a Canon D body and three tilt-shift lenses with their tripod-mounting brackets and L-brackets, plus batteries and miscellany. Anything larger (to accommodate the 135 tilt-shift lens, for example) would have made a package larger and heavier than I'd like. This is a solid case, with great Velcro pads that will adapt to almost anything.
Small and flimsier than before
The case ended up being much smaller than I expected but that's my fault for not measuring. The lower rating is because it feels a lot flimsier than my other Nanuk cases.. plastic feels thinner, padding feels thinner, side by side to my old cases. Even at the discounted $180 I can't justify this box for the 2 lenses I could fit inside it. It may work for you, but make sure to measure!
Finally - a sturdy secure carrier
I'm finally able to travel with a secure sturdy carrier for my extra lenses, etc. It's GREAT!
Fits all size lenses!
This case is a great little 6-lens case. It fits my tallest lens (Rokinon 35mm) with ease with room to spare. The locking mechanism is great but not easily done with one hand.
Nanuk is great, the lens holder foam insert is awful
My issue here is the foam is just so dense. If your lenses are all the perfect diameter, then this would be great, the adjustable height is a great touch, 3 of my lenses fit perfect, one is too loose and just slides back and forth, one will go in with some force, but its really hard to get back out, and the other won't fit at all; the foam just has very little give. I would recommend the cubed foam inserts, much more versatile.
Great case
Works so well w my leica r and canon fd lenses !! Nice latches and nice design!!
