Pivot Arm Kit Overview

A handy group of items to have on location or in the studio, the Impact Pivot Arm Kit was put together by B&H to offer the photographer various hands-free shooting and grip options. The kit includes a pivot arm, backlight stand base, super clamp and a camera platform.

Pivot Arm
Designed to hold a light fixture or accessory in place, the 20" Impact Pivot Arm with Locking Lever is a space-saving grip tool for a variety of applications. It's a great matchup with a super clamp, for instance, with an optional camera platform for highly mobile work. The lever at the arm's elbow locks down securely in the position you've chosen and will support gear weighing up to eight pounds.

Backlight Stand Base
The Impact Backlight Stand Base is a sturdy, all-steel lighting accessory that is ideal for low-angle applications such as mounting lighting fixtures and other accessories close to the floor or at table level. A 5/8" Baby receiver is built-in for mounting a light stand riser. With a footprint diameter of 20 inches, the rubber-tipped, tri-leg base provides stability and prevents slipping on a smooth surface. It sets up quickly, and the legs fold flat for easy moving and storage.

Super Clamp
The Impact Super Clamp with Ratchet Handle is a versatile grip tool made of lightweight cast alloy. With a load capacity of 33 lb, the clamp can hold a wide variety of items such as cameras, lights, umbrellas, hooks, shelves, plate glass, cross bars, even other Super Clamps. The Super Clamp can be securely mounted on any tube or pipe from 0.5" to 2.1" and is supplied with a wedge insert for clamping onto flat surfaces. The ratchet handle allows you to disengage it and tighten it down from any angle; a very handy feature when you're using the clamp in tight quarters. A built-in socket holds 5/8" accessories such as the supplied SRP-102 Hex Stud with 1/4"-20 male thread.

Camera Platform
The Impact Camera Platform supports lightweight cameras on the pivot arm or similar accessory. The platform features a captive, sliding 1/4"-20 camera screw and a non-slip surface. There are two 5/8" receivers for the arm or a stud.

Impact Pivot Arm 20" with Locking Lever

Designed to hold a light fixture or accessory in place, the Impact Pivot Arm 20ʺ with Locking Lever is a space-saving grip tool for a variety of applications. It's a great matchup with a super clamp, for instance, with an optional camera platform for highly mobile work. The lever at the arm's elbow locks down securely in the position you've chosen and will support gear weighing up to 8 lb.

Position your lighting or camera gear where you need it with 360° rotation of the pivot arms. Maximum extension is 20"
One baby pin is threaded female 1/4ʺ-20 and the other female 3/8ʺ for flexibility in the type of gear you can mount
The intra-locking lever freezes the pivot arms and baby pins in position with one movement of the internal quick-locking mechanism
The pins at the end of each arm are capable of swiveling on their ball and socket joints providing extra flexibility for positioning your equipment

Impact Super Clamp with Ratchet Handle (Black)

The Impact Super Clamp with Ratchet Handle is a versatile multigrip tool made of lightweight cast aluminum alloy. With a load capacity of 33 lb, it can hold a wide variety of items such as cameras, lights, umbrellas, hooks, shelves, plate glass, cross bars, and other Super Clamps.

The Super Clamp can be securely mounted on any tube or pipe from 0.5" to 2.1" and is supplied with a wedge insert for clamping onto flat surfaces. The ratchet handle allows you to disengage and tighten it down from any angle, a very handy feature when using the clamp in tight quarters that don't allow 360° rotation. A snap-in hex socket holds 5/8" accessories such as the supplied hex stud with 1/4"-20 screw.

Snap-In Hex Socket
The snap-in hex socket is compatible with hex studs and snap-in pins, and it provides a secure and non-twist connection for accessories. Hex-type pins won't slip or turn once inserted into the socket, and a locking snap-in pin cannot be released until the safety lock button is pressed.
Wedge for Flat Surfaces
The included flat wedge insert provides the clamp with a matching flat surface for clamping onto doors, tabletops, or shelves.
Ratchet Handle
The ratchet handle is ideal for tightening the clamp in locations where there isn't a lot of room to operate. When it's adjacent to a wall or next to rigging and can't be rotated 360°, the ratchet handle pulls out and disengages so it can be repositioned and continue to tighten the jaws.
1/4"-20 and M5 Threaded Receivers
For added convenience and versatility, the Super Clamp is outfitted with 1/4"-20 and M5 female threads for attaching additional accessories.
Polymer Grip Pads
Polymer pads line the jaws of the Super Clamp to ensure it won't scratch mounting surfaces.

Is that impact arm with lever better than the impact one with knob? How it's vs Manfrotto one?
Asked by: Maxim
The only difference between the Impact Pivot Arm 20" with Locking Lever included in the Impact Pivot Arm Kit and the Impact Pivot Arm 20" with Adjustable Wheel Lock Control, B&H # IMBHE115, or the Manfrotto 244N Variable Friction Magic Arm, B&H # MA244N, with its adjustable locking wheel versus the Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket, B&H # MA143N, with its pivot locking arm would simply be the locking mechanism; otherwise, they are identical in all other aspects. The Impact arms have a maximum load capacity of 8 lb (3.6 kg), whereas the maximum load capacity of the Manfrotto arms would be 6.6 lb (3 kg).

Will this REALLY hold 8 lbs. if it extended out perfectly horizontally and the 8 lbs. is on the end?
Asked by: John
I use one with a large strobe and beauty dish. I'd say it's all of 8 lbs. It should hold that much weight depending how each end is attached. The joints won't give but other components can slip. This unit is very strong!

Are there any other differences between this model and the wheel lock model besides method of tension? Does one have locking or splines that would hold better than just a friction based hold?
Asked by: Mitch
The wheel lock version will allow you to crank down the knob and apply higher friction than the on/off latch will allow for.
