RECONYX PC 900 Overview

Capture 3.1MP images of wildlife, other hunters, or trespassers with the PC900 HyperFire Professional Covert IR Trail Camera from RECONYX. It features a discreet No-Glow infrared flash with a 60' range, and eliminates the tell-tale red glow common to other IR cameras. Benefit from a CMOS image sensor and a passive infrared motion-detection sensor with a 0.2-sec trigger speed and a 100' range, as well as flexible time-lapse interval recording to maximize your opportunities for great photos. This camera allows you to schedule not only the periods during which time-lapse shooting will take place, but also the periods when the motion sensor will be active.

The HyperFire Professional offers a backlit LCD status/menu screen for easy navigation and settings selection. Captured images are recorded onto optional SDHC memory cards up to 32GB in capacity. The camera runs on 12 user-supplied AA batteries, which are easy to find and replace. As an added bonus, the HyperFire includes MapView Professional mapping and image management software for Windows.

CMOS Image Sensor and 3.1MP Resolution
Takes 3.1MP color images by day and black-and-white shots at night. Will also capture RapidFire NearVideo sequences of 2.1MP still images at up to 2 fps. Ultra HD IR lens provides sharper, clearer images than previous camera models could deliver.
Motion Sensor
Passive infrared (PIR) motion-activated sensor with rapid 0.2-sec trigger speed and 100' range ensures that shots are not missed. Detects changes in temperature that occur when subjects move, and captures images in response. Features two horizontal detection bands and twelve different zones within the bands. Sensitivity can be set to low, low-medium, medium, medium-high, or high. Number of pictures per trigger can be set to 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 (default is 3), and the interval between triggers is your choice of 1, 3, 5, or 10 sec (default is 1 sec).

Quiet period, the time after a trigger during which camera will not respond to motion, is also selectable in durations of 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 3 min, and 5 min, and you can also choose to have no delay. WalkTest mode allows you to determine your camera's active motion detection zones with precision, ensuring that the camera is aimed exactly where you want to capture animal activity. Motion sensor can be scheduled for 15-min increments within any 24-hour period.
Time-Lapse Shooting
Flexible time-lapse interval recording is also possible, allowing you to record and view change over time and keep track of patterns in various conditions. Choose virtually any number of sec, min, or hour for the duration of the intervals between shots. Starting and ending times for the time-lapse sequences can be selected in one-hour increments during the day and night.
Display
Small, backlit LCD status/menu screen for easy navigation and settings selection. Also shows battery status and number of pictures captured since camera was last armed. Optional computer, TV, digital picture frame, or other device required in order to view images.
Flash
Designed to be discreet, camera features a No-Glow infrared flash with a 60' range.
Image Data
Time, date, temperature, and moon phase (new, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waning gibbous, last quarter, and waning crescent) can be stamped on images. By recording the moon's phase at the time of capture on your photo, the camera allows you to see which animals are inactive during a full or nearly-full moon--when brighter lighting conditions will make them more visible to predators. Moon phases also help you determine if brighter or darker backgrounds in images are due to fullness of moon.
Memory
Captured images are recorded onto optional SDHC memory cards up to 32GB in capacity.
QuickSet Options
Include Normal, Aggressive, and Conservative options. Normal gives you 3 pictures per trigger with a 1-second interval between images and no quiet period for motion sensor. Aggressive is set to 5 pictures per trigger and uses the RapidFire interval setting with no quiet period. Conservative mode takes 3 pictures per trigger at 5-sec intervals with a 15-sec quiet period.
Additional Settings and Options
Balanced mode offers the best combination of image quality, shutter speed, and flash range. High Quality mode gives you better images with reduced flash range. Fast Shutter increases shutter speed to reduce motion blur but also decreases flash range. Max Range setting gives your flash a greater reach but reduces image quality. Camera remembers settings even when shut off, so you need not select them again unless you wish to change them.

Add a label (up to 16 characters) that will be included with all photos taken by your camera. You can also view, change, or clear an existing label.
Power
Runs on 12 user-supplied NiMH or lithium AA batteries, which are easy to find and replace.
Durability
Rugged, weather-resistant design with gasket seal to withstand the elements over extended periods of outdoor use. Breathable vent underneath latch of camera allows air pressure inside camera case/housing to equalize while keeping water out. Additionally, a moisture-absorbing desiccant is included. Camera is built to withstand temperatures from -40 to 140°F / -40 to 60°C. Electronics are treated with conformal coating to safeguard against high humidity and extreme environments.
Software
Includes MapView Professional mapping and image management software CD-ROM for Windows. Program uses Google Maps technology, allowing you to organize your images geographically and access them with ease. Additionally, it helps you track patterns and understand animal movements and behaviors. You can add camera locations, nesting sites, bait stations, food sources, and more. The "power tagging" feature makes easy work of defining metadata and tagging images with data specific to your research project. Once your image data is specified, you can easily export it for further analysis using other software systems. Reconynx Professional Configuration software allows for advanced camera programming with many possible combinations of settings. Runs on Windows XP, Vista, or 7.
Firmware
Periodically check the RECONYX website for firmware updates with new features and/or performance enhancements.
Mounting
Includes an adjustable bungee cord for mounting to a tree or post. Can also be connected to an optional RECONYX VersaMount, ThunderBolt, or tripod via threaded insert on back of camera housing.
Security
CodeLoc Pass-Code Protection lets you add a four-digit security code to your camera to prevent unauthorized use in the event of tampering or theft. You can also change or remove an existing code. Additionally, camera is compatible with optional security box and Master Python Lock.
