ikan Lyra LB10 Bi-Color LED Light Panel

The Lyra LB10 Bi-Color Soft LED Panel from ikan is built into a heavy-duty molded plastic chassis providing a lightweight yet strong variable color fixture with enhanced features such as 100-10% flicker-free dimming and an LCD display. It features an integrated 1/2 stop diffuser for extra softness, while its 900 LEDs produce a 110° beam spread with a high CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 98 for precise color rendering. The fixture produces a soft single-source shadow pattern owing to the integrated diffusion.

The Lyra comes with a multi-voltage AC power supply but it also has a battery-powered option thanks to the inclusion of Gold Mount and V-Mount battery plates, while the four-leaf barndoors provide control over light spill, and feature removable light intensifiers to suit your taste. The yoke is angled forward 30°, which allows you to open the barndoors all the way without hitting the yoke when the light is pointed straight forward. The fixture also has a combo Baby receiver/Junior pin on the yoke so you can mount it on a stand or hang it from a grid with optional clamps.

Color Temperature Adjustment and Dimming
The big yellow knob on the back of the unit controls both the color temperature selection and the dimming of the unit. It features an indent for fingertip control and is positioned at the edge of the fixture, which is cut away allowing you to adjust the knob from the side of the unit when the back is difficult to access. When you power on the light the yellow dimming knob defaults to controlling the dimming, pressing in the knob switches it to color temperature control (3200 to 5600K), pressing it again reverts back to dimming.
Consistent Light Levels
The light output stays consistent as you transition across the color temperature range, preventing the brightness spike that happens with many LED lights around 4300K.
Soft Source, Single Shadow
The 1/2 white diffusion softens the light and provides a 110° beam spread and a single source shadow.
Removable Intensifiers
While some users may enjoy the small increase in light output that intensifiers bring, other users prefer to use barndoors without intensifiers. The removable intensifiers that come with this light attach securely to the barndoors. You do not have to attach all four intensifiers, which allows you choose how many barndoors to use for bumping up your output and how many barndoors to use to cut spill. The top and bottom barndoors integrate gel clips for attaching diffusion or gels.
Battery Power
The fixture features an interchangeable Gold Mount battery plate. Removing four screws and disconnecting the snap connector allows you to swap out the included V-Mount plate.
LCD Info Screen
On the back of the fixture is an LCD info screen that displays the battery power remaining, brightness percentage and color temperature.

First set of lights I bought and they are perfect for what I need! The soft lights make the products look very professional!

Great kit

Had to make some political commercials this past election cycle and was looking for something portable and quick to deploy. I can get the three lights up on their stands and ready to go in about 10 minutes. I got one battery, (which are not cheap, ~$299, so I could move one light around (usually a background or kicker) independently of an output. The lights are simple, robust, and easy to use. The tripods they come with are solid as well. They have somewhat odd tops though, they arent screw in they are solid plastic nubs. This is fine but if you use them for other purposes you might not get the best fit if you throw a regular flash clamp system down on this thing. Otherwise these are pretty fantastic.

A solid set of lights, light weight, good output, soft light, good colour temp control. I’ve been using them in a mix of daylight, tungsten and fluorescent interviews. Maybe a slight magenta tint at 3200, but not bad at all. It’s great that they all fit in one case with extra room to pack some gels, and other tools, and then not weighing too much to carry over your shoulder. Light stands that come with are solid build as well and very portable. I need to figure out the remotes to see if I can control one light at a time not all of them at once, although not a big deal as I am usually to adjusting at the head anyway.

Initial reaction is very positive

I needed lights that could put up with student (=rough) handling, and I wanted the following features: High CRI rating, already-soft light source, barn doors, bi-color, and dimmable. What I got that put them in the 5-star zone is the remotes. Now I boom-arm-mounted top light -- and with students there are always safety concerns -- is easy for the students to adjust.

Good quality and reliable for the price point

The Ikan LB10 LED light has been great. Have used this as my primary key light for corporate interviews on multiple occasions. It is not an item you rent out but for the self shooting looking for a cost-effective LED light, it’s great. You can change color balance from tungsten to daylight and the intensity of light also. The other addition of it bering able to run via batteries (VLock of Gold mount) is extremely handy and saves all that cable bashing onset or at small locations.

Good soft light

I like this light, it provides a soft light with much better CRI than previous Ikans. I find it a bit heavy and bulky, and really wish they had provided separate dials for the light level and color temperature, doing this with the one dial is awkward. But the look it provides has improved my lighting quite a bit.

I'm a 30 year professional who shoots art work for reproduction. We have used soft boxes for years and recently decided to upgrade to LED panels. After much research I narrowed my search to Ikan and the LB10 and all I can say is WOW, these light made color correction a breeze and I wish I had done this years ago. The amount of control is wonderful and the results speak for themselves. The sales team was so helpful in my research and I can't say enough about the staff at B&H, thanks for all your help.

They seem great, but...

I just got them, they seem very nice but are very top heavy on the stands. So I guess you have to bring sandbags around with you...

question

Hi, what would be the best mobile V mount battery for the LB10? I am trying to find a battery with an LCD screen. Is the Rolux RLC-130S (130Wh) any good?
Asked by: Greg
Unfortunately, B&H is not an authorized Rolux dealer, and we do not carry Rolux batteries or accessories such as the Rolux RLC-130S V-Mount Battery w/ LCD Display. As such, I am unfamiliar with this particular brand battery. If you are looking for a similar V-mount battery option with an LCD screen, I would then recommend either the Anton Bauer CINE 150 VM Battery, B&H # ANC150VM, the CAMLAST 140Wh 14.8V V-Mount Battery with LCD Display for Professional Camcorders & VTRs , B&H # CACMBB140VD, the Core SWX HyperCore 150Wh 14.8V V-Mount Battery, B&H # COHYPRCR150S, or the ikan V-Mount 14.8V Battery with LCD Display, B&H # IKIBLD295S.

question

What is the difference between the ikan Lyra and the ikan Rayden? They are priced the same and look the same to me. Thanks.
Asked by: John
The Lyra would offer a built in diffuser panel with a beam angle of 110 degrees. Other the other hand, the Rayden does not come with a diffuser panel and offers a beam angle of 50 degrees.

question

Is there a more rugged option for carrying/packing cases? Those soft side cases look a little weak to me.
Asked by: Harry L.
They have upgraded the case since Ive purchased my kit. My case is porely designed and difficult to assemble and required tech support to assemble it.iKan addressed my request with a YouTube video on how to assemble. They contacted me to let me know that a new case was available. I dont know if the new design was an improvement.
