Gripper Series Gripper Series GR Reviews

A great addition but...

I’m pretty darn happy with my purchase - the battery does just what I need it to do and has the added functions of being a rigged for the 15mm rails and a solid counterweight on my rig. The ONLY gripe I have is there there is no Off Button (perhaps there is and I never found it) because I just hate having to unplug everything between set ups. I nice switch the clocks when you press it would make this a full fledged 5 Stare knock out.

Should have been made years ago!!!

Great compact battery with so much flexibility! Easy attachments on 15mm rods and you can also purchase a d-tap adapter with different fittings if you require to power more gear. It's a must if you want to keep your rig small but want the power (no pun intended) of d-tap. Probably the best portable battery out there. The only downside is you must purchase the charger separately. Seriously???

Warning about connector cable for use with Sony FS5

The battery fits very well onto the 15mm rods on the back of my camera baseplate, and easily slides to adjust for precise balance as a handheld rig. One annoyance is that it's hard to get the battery indicator light to show up - you have to press VERY hard. So far it seems to charge my FS5 for a long time, much longer that the Sony batteries. But I haven't used it very long, so time will tell. The reason I'm writing this review a bit prematurely is to give a heads-up about the problem I had with the cable from the battery to the FS5. The Blueshape cable (D-tap to Sony DC in) I was told would work didn't work at all - Zacuto sent a Hawkwoods LA-27 cable, and that didn't work either. They then sent me a Hawkwoods LA-27R (designed to work with the F55)- and that DID work (finally). So just a warning if using with the Sony FS5.

Love it!

One of the best investments I've bought. One battery to rule them all, no longer do I have to worry about charging multiple batteries. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to just leave their camera ON without having to worry about turning it OFF and also being able to power more things too.

DTap ports aren't snug at all.

I love the concept of this product. But all of my dtap cords easily come loose from this battery. Making it an unreliable source of power. I guess I can tap it on each time but I didn't this much to have this issue. Anyone else have the problem? Never dropped.

Worry free!

Finally I'm free of worrying about changing my camera battery! That goes especially for long interviews or events. I shot all day and never worried about battery life. The Gripper lasted all day and more. The battery life icon never moved off of full. This is a must buy for all kinds of shooting needs. And get the fast charger too for a quick overnight fill up...if you need it.
