Epson XP640 reviews

Expression Premium XP-640 Small-in-One Inkjet Printer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 920.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from XP-640 Installation of the XP-640 went smoothly more or less. The updated scanner driver available on 9/23/16 seemed install, but kept coming up as an essential update on all three of our Win 7 Home computers. To import using the scanner directly to Photoshop CS6 using File/ Import/ WIA support, the 640 must be connected via a USB cable. I couldn’t get it to import directly to Photoshop any other way. The good news is that the 640 can be setup with both WIFI and USB. So the computer connected to the printer via USB does not have to be on to use the printer by the other computers and/or phones on your home network. Yes, the printer will scan WIFI using the Epson software.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the worst, Not the best! This is a review for the Epson Expression XP-640 that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Took an hour to set up. Make sure you take all necessary attachments that are stored in styrofoam out. I do not have a dvd drive on my laptop, so I logged on to generate the connection between the printer and my computer. Not hard. I think the multiple "cassette" trays could be broken easily. They really need just one tray for all printing. I do like how compact the unit is. Directions were fairly easy. I do not think I would purchase this product, as the ink costs almost as much as the unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good little printer for the price This is a review for the Epson Expression XP-640 that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Out of the box, I liked the feel and look. After further inspection, the paper trays are small, and are flimsy. The exit tray has to be pulled out completely before printing will start. The print quality was good. I printed a bunch of pictures on plain paper, and they are acceptable. I also printed on glossy paper, and the ink smeared. Not enough drying time. I went through all the ink printing about 50 pictures on plain paper. Overall, it's a good little printer for the cost.....but not a work horse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A big jump from my 2008 XP-400! Just finished setting it up this evening, it's 12:59 am. This was ten (10) times easier to set up than my 2008 XP-400 and it even works right away with less hassle. The XP-400 was good for the money and that point in time but the XP-640 is absolutly phenomenal. The Wi-Fi is great and without connection problems. Even the ink cartridges are full size and not quarter or half full, that was greatly appreciated Epson, thank you for that. The features are very well thought out and compact, especially the addition of a second tray for photo paper and even a CD/DVD labeling template, ...just amazing! That is real value for your dollar.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from jut ok nothing great Cumbersome to use, for example, you always need to remember to pull out the tray for the copies to rest upon, otherwise it will beep and not print anything. I bought this primarily to make greeting cards, and in this endeavor, I find it lacking and complicated. None of the printer menus, under settings has anything labeled "greeting cards". You have to get involved in some complicated process of designing a template, and using the scanner, if I understand the instructions correctly. If you want this for general printing OR FOR PRINTING PHOTOS, this will likely please you. This printer seems dedicated to printing photos, again, not my reason for buying it,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from West Set-Up Experience Ever Just bought and set up my new Epson 640, and Ive been at it all afternoon! First, it's missing the cord to connect to Mac (new Mac. Probably need a donegal for this too). There is no 2nd cord at all. The instructions were so poor that I couldn't understand why there was no power until I figured out there are 2 ports that ate exactly the same and I had the power plugged into the port for the computer. Then came the paper trays and which went were and finally figured out the 2nd tray way at the bottom of things was where 8.5x11 paper goes. then a paper jam. No directions on how to fix that. I fixed it by pure dumb luck.I'll get back to you on how well it actually works. May I have that cord now?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you can always count on an epson! I've used EPSON printers for over 10 years, and it's consistently the best. The new XP-640 is perfect for my home office needs, as well as my scrapbooking hobby. The wifi set up is as easy as ever, it's lightweight, and doesn't take up a lot of desk space. I easily added it on my epson print apps from my laptop, iPhone and iPad. Color pages are excellent, no smearing. The pictures are awesome - as good as getting them printed at the local drugstore. I love that the 2 sided print option is available on this model! Having a copier and scanner now makes working much more efficient. You can't go wrong with this printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far! We bought the xp640 because it lets us print from iPhone or iPad. It does that well. It also lets us print from our rather old desktop, without needing a cable. The desktop was hooked to our internet router and, after I did the right things, now print commands are sent over the Internet from the desktop to the printer. Works very well. It was a bit difficult to follow the directions, but that was probably my fault! And I am still not sure how it works: there is an EpsonConnect and also a Google cloud print, but I don't know which one is working. But it works! Print quality is excellent on photos and text.
