Covert Scouting Cameras 5151 Overview

Capture 12MP photos and SD video of wildlife or trespassers with the Code Black 12.0 Wireless Digital Trail Camera in solid brown from Covert Scouting Cameras. Its wireless connectivity allows you to control the camera and view images remotely from your smartphone, tablet, or computer via the Covert Wireless mobile app, which also conveniently provides information on weather and wind. You can view images on the camera's 2.0" color LCD monitor, as well.

The camera's passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor captures images when triggered by subject movement, and its fast 0.7-sec trigger speed helps ensure you won't miss the shot. The Code Black can also operate in time-lapse mode, capturing images at scheduled intervals without the PIR sensor being triggered. These captured shots can then be stitched together into a video showing change over time. An invisible, 60-LED infrared flash with a 100' range allows for bright after-dark images while remaining completely discreet, so as not to spook or alert game or other humans.

The Code Black records photos and videos to optional SDHC memory cards up to 32GB. Power is provided by 4-12 AA batteries or an external 6-12V battery connected to the camera's auxiliary power jack.

Wireless Connectivity
  • Enables you to send still images to your smartphone, tablet, or computer for remote viewing via Covert Wireless web portal and mobile app
  • Camera will not send videos via mobile app, but you'll be alerted that video has been recorded
  • Uses AT&T cellular data network and requires purchase of a subscription plan. See web portal on Covert's website for data plan options. Plan gives you 30 days of free cloud storage for images
  • Web portal and app also provide immediate, real-time control over camera. You can alternatively select interval times of every 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, 12, or 24 h for transmission of remote commands via portal and app
  • Benefit from information on weather and wind
  • App available from Google Play and Apple app stores
Photo and Video Capture
  • Maximum still image resolution of 12MP
  • Other resolutions include 8, 5, and 3MP
  • Video recorded at VGA 640x480 resolution, or at QVGA 320x240
  • Designed for very quiet operation during image capture so as not to spook or alert your subjects
  • Lens provides 52° field of view
  • Use Start-Stop function to choose when camera will be active, if you don't want it active all day and night
Motion Sensor
  • Passive infrared (PIR) sensor captures images when triggered by subject movement
  • Detects changes in temperature that occur when subjects move, and signals camera to take photo or record video in response
  • Fast 0.7-sec trigger speed helps ensure you won't miss the shot
  • Selectable delay times of 5-60 sec and 1-60 min for interval between trigger events
Time-Lapse Shooting
  • Camera can operate in time-lapse mode, capturing images independently of PIR sensor at scheduled intervals
  • Photos can be stitched together into a video showing change over time
  • Selectable interval times: 3-60 min and 2-8 h
  • Can be active at same time as motion-detection mode, so you won't miss opportunities for shots that occur in between scheduled time-lapse intervals
Flash
  • Built-in, invisible, 60-LED infrared flash allows for bright after-dark images while remaining completely discreet, so as not to spook or alert game or other humans
  • Effective range of 100'
Setup, Display, and Options
  • View images on camera's 2.0" color LCD monitor
  • Date, time, temperature, and moon phase stamping on images
  • By recording phase of moon at time of capture, camera allows you to see which animals are inactive during full or nearly-full moon--when brighter lighting conditions make them more visible to predators
  • Moon phase also helps determine if brighter or darker backgrounds in images are due to fullness of moon
Memory
  • Records photos and videos to optional SDHC memory cards up to 32GB
  • Overwrite function saves new photos over old ones if memory card becomes full. Each time new photo is taken, oldest photo on card will be overwritten
Power
  • Runs on 4-12 user-supplied AA batteries
  • Short-term operation possible with 4 AAs, but 8 or 12 highly recommended to give you longer shooting time
  • Optional, external 6-12V battery can be connected to camera's auxiliary power jack
Mounting
  • Reinforced threaded connector for tripod or tree/post mount
Durability
  • Weather-resistant housing for protection against elements during extended outdoor use
