The Video Assist 4K has two balanced female mini XLR ports that support 48V phantom power so you can plug in any standard 3-pin XLR microphone. Each cable has a male mini 3-pin XLR connector and a female standard 3-pin XLR connector, and they are each 19.5" long.

This comes with two cables, but the BMPCC 4K only has one mini-XLR input. Is the second cable just a backup?

There are other BM devices that have a left and right audio input - notably the 4K Video Assist, the pair would be a replacement for those cables.

The RODE NTG4+ Microphone is battery powered, or Phantom powered. Yes. the Blackmagic Design Set of 2 Mini XLR to XLR Audio Cables would work with the Pocket Camera models, and allow you to work with the The RODE NTG4+. The camera will also be able to supply phantom power to the microphone as well.
