From Manufacturer

Designed to provide the basic accessories for shock-mounting a shotgun microphone atop a camera, this B&H Kit features the Senal MC24-EL battery-/phantom-powered shotgun microphone, a shoe/pole shockmount, and a short XLR to 3.5mm cable for easy hookup to a camera's mic input.

The kit addresses the needs of videographers who prefer a cost-effective shotgun microphone setup that stays out of the frame while maintaining tailored-for-voice tone and low handling noise. With its XLR output and dual powering modes (phantom power or a single AA battery), the MC24-EL mic is well suited for use with mirrorless cameras and DSLRs as well as professional camcorders, portable audio recorders, multitrack field recorders, and compact mixer adapters.

Senal MC24-EL Long Shotgun Microphone

The Senal MC24-EL is a battery-/phantom-powered long shotgun microphone that delivers broadcast-quality sound in the studio or on location. It maximizes the rejection of sound coming from the sides and rear of the mic and can be used as a directional microphone to capture full, rich, natural-sounding audio for speech and dialog.

Thoughtfully designed and engineered for demanding video productions, ENG, and broadcast applications, the MC24-EL delivers quality sound, and its rugged brass frame ensures it is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.

The microphone features a high-grade condenser transducer that captures detailed and accurate sound. It has a broad frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz and delivers clear sound reproduction with full lows, present mids, and crisp highs. There is a selectable high-pass filter at 180 Hz that minimizes unwanted noise and rumble.

Furthermore, the microphone runs on 48V phantom power which is available from most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices, and runs on a single AA battery (over 400 hours) for those DSLRs, computers, and other devices where phantom power is not available. The mic is suitable for mounting on a boompole, a mic stand, or a camera, and includes a foam windscreen, a mic clip, and a 5/8" (mic stand thread) to 3/8" (boompole thread) adapter.

The microphone is covered with a matte-black rubberized coating that reduces handling noise and ensures trouble-free recordings when being operated. The finish also rejects unwanted light reflections. It is built with a gold-plated XLR connector and comes in a leatherette pouch.

Broadcast Sound Quality
Senal's MC24-EL shotgun microphone is designed for video production and broadcast applications. Its length is well suited for ENG, outdoor recording, and camera mounting.
Hypercardioid Polar Pattern
A hypercardioid polar pattern provides front-facing directivity and off-axis sound rejection. It is suitable when recording speech or dialog in noisy environments such as a convention floor or sporting event.
Battery or Phantom Power
The MC24-EL runs on 48V phantom power supplied by most professional video cameras, mixing boards, or recording devices. It can also be powered by one AA battery over 400 hours, which is ideal for recording to DSLR cameras, computers, and other devices that don't offer phantom power.
Brass Construction
The durable and solid construction ensures the microphone is capable of withstanding the rigors of recording in the field or on the go.
Rubberized Coating
The rubberized coating minimizes handling noise.
Matte Finish
The matte finish doesn't reflect light when shooting in the studio.
High-Pass Filter
The selectable high-pass filter rolls off unwanted low-frequency noise and rumble at 180 Hz and minimizes room noise when recording in environments with fans, air conditioners, blowers, or overhead lights.
Gold-Plated XLR Connector
The gold-plated XLR connector resists corrosion and ensures excellent signal transfer.
Foam Windshield, Mic Clip
A foam windshield is included to minimize wind noise and to protect the microphone from dust and debris. A mic clip is included for boompole or mic stand mounting.

Senal MC24-EL Reviews

Battery Power Issue

I bought 6 of these mics for a high school class. We use rechargeable batteries. Unfortunately rechargeable batteries are ever so slightly larger than conventional and they simply do not fit past the sliding battery door, so you must use conventional batteries. BUT, there is no off switch. In order to stop drawing power, you must remove the batteries, which is not ideal. We will use these on phantom power, so we should be good to go.

Great mic, but...

This is a great mic, but lacks a little on the lower freqs. Not a good mic if you're looking for a little fuller sound on the lower end. However this can be helped on post by bringing up the 50-100 Hz range, giving the lower freqs more presence. Highly directional and works well for general video and audio recording for in studio and on location. Seems to be well made. Shot a music production this past December and the client loved the audio produced with this mic. Had 2 mics on booms on a Panasonic 1500 video camera. Sound was great and it seems to produce very little self noise. Overall, great mic for location use.

The microphone comes bundled with a windscreen. It is a hyper super cardioid, Very sensitive, excellent but still there’s only so much you can shut down with the wind screen

Is there any way to use this with an iPhone 14 pro?
Asked by: Boryana
The Senal MC24-EL Long Shotgun Microphone would require an XLR interface such as BH #IKIRIGPREHD to connect to an iPhone.
