The B-3 V from Arturia is a virtual instrument that delivers an authentic tonewheel organ and rotary speaker experience. The rich-sounding B3 has been a staple of jazz, gospel, rock, reggae, and R&B for over a half century. Its electromagnetic tonewheel design gave it a beefy quality not found on later transistor organs. Unlike other virtual instruments that rely on samples that only capture some of the qualities of an original, the B-3V was created using technology that models every aspect of an instrument.
The recreation includes an array of stomp boxes, plus updates like analog circuit modifications. Other additions include multiple reverbs, and the ability to modify previously fixed analog-circuit features like key click. A unique addition is a modulation section that automates the movement of the drawbars using envelopes, LFOs, and step sequencers, for infusing the sound with new animated textures.
