  • 1Description

Use your Canon EF-mount lenses on your Leica SL camera with this Electronic Adapter from Novoflex. Featuring electronic contacts, this adapter supports various shooting features, such as autofocus in AF-S mode, in-camera aperture control, and permits the use auto-exposure modes. Due to the electronic communication, the adapter will support the AF/MF mode, show depth of field values on the camera, and transfer Exif data to the camera.

This adapter is specifically designed to work with Leica SL cameras updated to firmware version 2.0. It does not currently support continuous autofocus (AF-C) or image stabilization.

    Novoflex SL/EOS reviews

Canon EF Lens to Leica L-Mount Camera Electronic Adapter is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Update to My previous Review I wanted to update my last review and add comments. Since the latest firmware update I have tried all the lenses I mentioned previously and now I get adequate results concerning AutoFocus with the Canon 300 2.8L, 200 2.8L and the Sigma 50 1.4 DG. The autofocus is still slow compared to my 1DS however the autofocus locks on and reviewing the files seems to be accurate. It also helps using the focus peaking at the same time. I am not sure if the new firmware made a difference but it was a nice surprise. The other lens I mentioned were not effected and still do not work in Auto Focus. However manual focus and aperture control all work. I gave the adapter a higher rating this time around.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Quite There I have been using the adapter for several weeks. I wanted to make sure that I used it extensively before I gave a review. I am mostly disappointed. Novaflex should provide a list of lenses that will work with the adapter on the SL. Having said that I will give you my experience. I have tried a Canon 300 2.8L 200 2.8L 28-135 and my favorite canon 80-200 2.8L magic drainpipe. Also a Sigma 50 1.4 DG. My experience was not satisfying. I expected the 300,200 and 28-135 to work. I didn't expect the other two to work and I was right. The 80 200 is quite old and Sigma is not Canon. What I experienced was hit or miss auto focus, mostly miss, quite a bit of hunting and some times the auto focus did not work at all until I turned the SL off and on again. It was mostly frustrating. I read another review somewhere else that stated the 28-135 work okay but was slow. I did not find that to be true. I was surprised I had trouble with the 200 and 300.... Although I was disappointed I am keeping the adapter because manual focus works well. I believe the SL is the best and easiest MF camera out there. I have tried Canon, Sony with the focus peaking and the SL viewfinder I found MF work very well. The expense of the adapter is a big consideration especially the problems with auto focus I experienced, but I am used to manual focus and can use the adapter with my Canon lenses.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3rd party lens not supported Doesn't support 3rd party lens, doesn't work fine on Canon's 50mm f/1.8 II lens, I always restart my Leica SL everytime I change lenses and check the connections if they really contacted, time wasting, must use this adapter for one lens if you are using it on events. NOVOFLEX please fix your products. My Leica SL's Firmware is 2.2 Tried on Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC - Not Working Tried on Canon 50mm f/1.8 II - Not Working

Rated 3 out of 5 by from As Usual, It's All Relative I own the Leica SL. I own and use the 24-90 SL Lens. The combo is my fave setup ever. I've owned all the big Canon's. The Fuji's. Sony's. All good to very good. But the SL + Lens (bought mine used) is my last camera at 71 years old. I own 4 Zeiss-Canon lenses so needed an adapter for the SL. I've tried two so far and I'm not sure I'll continue. Any adapter, and I've tried Leica on Sony a7's, too, is second best to a native lens to the body it was made for. Yes, the Novoflex works with the Zeiss on the SL. But the IQ isn't like the 24-90 or the M lenses adapted. Good but not optimum. If you get used to what you deem to be the best "look" of a photo, the way the camera and lens draw a particular scene, you will not be satisfied unless every shot you take is of the same quality. What that means to me is that I will have to save my $$ for another SL native lens instead of half-stepping it to the beat of another way of seeing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool to enlarge the lenses range for the Leica SL This adaptor allows to use a wide range of Canon EF lenses on the Leica SL camera. Informations about the Canon lense fitted is transmitted to the camera, as well as the AF condition. AF is rather fast with some Canon lenses, particular good example is the 24-105 L USM Canon EF zoom. To be also noted is the good work related to the aperture drived by the camera. The adaptor is well finished and solid; it is apparently water tight (not tested).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from solid build but incompatibility issues as it turns out novoflex doesn't support lenses other than official canon EOS lenses, and not all of those work. additionally, if your lens is a manual lens without a chip - you don't see anything in the finder. while a solid build, this is a very limited adapter.
