Yongnuo YN1.4XIII Overview

Dedicated to select Canon EF-mount lenses, the Extender EF 1.4x III Teleconverter from Yongnuo allows you to increase the effective focal length of lenses for greater reach. The electronic design of the teleconverter permits communication between compatible lenses and camera bodies in order to support autofocus and auto-exposure, and the optical design is comprised of seven elements in three groups in order to maintain image quality.

Compatibility
The following lenses are supported with full autofocus:
  • Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM, EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM (AF supported from 2.6' / 80 cm to infinity), EF 200mm f/2L IS USM, EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM, EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM, EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM, EF 300mm f/4L IS USM, EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM, EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM, EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II USM, EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM, EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM, EF 500mm f/4L IS USM, EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM, EF 600mm f/4L IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/4L USM, and EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x (without 1.4x extender in use)
The following lenses are supported only when used in conjunction with a Canon EOS-1D X, 1Ds Mark III, 1Ds Mark II, 1Ds, 1D Mark IV, 1D Mark III, 1D Mark II N, 1D Mark II, 1D, 1V/HS, 5D Mark III, or 7D Mark II camera, and the only the central AF point will be available:
  • Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM, EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM, EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM, and EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x (with 1.4x extender in use)
The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lens is also compatible, however only central autofocus is supported.

While I already have a Canon 1.4x TC, I thought to add another one at 1/3 the cost. Instead, it was 3 times the trouble. This Yongnuo arrived today and would not communicate with my Canon 70-200mm 2.8 V2 lens on either my 1DX2 or 1DX cameras—no autofocus and f/stop locked on 0. Got online for the B&H RMA, shipped the Yonguo TC back, and ordered Canon 1.4x TC III. I cannot even think to recommend this Yongnuo.

This extender does not work with the Canon 300m f4 IS L LENS. My copy would not even fit on the extender. Secondly it did not AUTOFOCUS on my 70-200m f4 L IS. Very erratic. YN needs to work out the bugs. I would not recommend this item. Buy the Canon Version.

I notice the 5D Mark III works with the 100-400 but the 5D Mark IV is not mentioned as supporting the 100-400, is this an oversight?

This is compatible with the Canon 5D Mark IV. The page just has not been updated to include the latest cameras.

You would need to use the canon 1.4x extender to retain the is function.
