ZOTAC GTX 1060 overview

  • 1Description

With a compact design and based on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture, the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini Graphics Card provides major improvements in performance, memory bandwidth, and power efficiency over its predecessor, the high-performance Maxwell architecture. It also introduces innovative graphics features and technologies that redefine the computer as the platform for playing AAA games and taking full advantage of virtual reality via NVIDIA VRWorks.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs in addition to an HDMI 2.0b output and a DVI-D Dual-Link output. The GTX 1060 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 1280 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA or other APIs.

For cooling, ZOTAC features a single 90mm fan with a specially designed aluminum sunflower heatsink. It has direct GPU contact and provides an even distribution of heat from the center to the outer edges.

VRWorks Graphics includes a simultaneous multi-projection capability that renders natively to the unique dimensions of VR displays instead of traditional 2D monitors. It also renders geometry for the left and right eyes simultaneously in a single pass.

VRWorks Audio uses the NVIDIA OptiX ray-tracing engine to trace the path of sounds across an environment in real-time, fully reflecting the size, shape, and material of the virtual world.

NVIDIA PhysX for VR detects when a hand controller interacts with a virtual object, and enables the game engine to provide a physically accurate visual and haptic response. It also models the physical behavior of the virtual world around the user so that all interactions -- whether an explosion or a hand splashing through water -- behave as if in the real world.
With Ansel, gamers can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction and from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can capture screenshots at up to 32 times the screen resolution, and then zoom in where they choose without losing fidelity. With photo-filters, they can add effects in real-time before taking the shot. And they can capture 360-degree stereo photospheres for viewing in a VR headset or Google Cardboard.
With CUDA, NVIDIA allows applications to hand off CPU-intensive tasks to the GPU. Your GPU is no longer just used for rendering graphics, but it can provide teraflops of floating point performance and accelerate application tasks, from real-time video rendering to fluid dynamics simulation. CUDA is used in many applications and games.
G-SYNC Ready
When used with a monitor that has G-SYNC hardware installed, the monitor's refresh rate will sync and lock with the graphics card's output frame rate. Establishing this sync removes tearing and stuttering which can result from conventional fixed screen refresh rates, especially important for gaming in stereoscopic 3D. An additional benefit of G-SYNC is reduced lag so gamers will benefit from the improved command response time as well.
NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0
Boosts the card's clock speed in real-time based on the target temperature. If the card is running below the set target temperature, GPU Boost 3.0 will increase the clock speed to improve performance. The target temperature can be reset depending on your preference so you can have the card run more quietly for everyday tasks and older games, and run at full tilt during intense high-resolution gaming sequences.

    ZOTAC GTX 1060 reviews

GeForce GTX 1060 Mini Graphics Card is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied I personally love the simple, clean and professional look of this card, unlike other cards with 'gaming' design. The single fan solution surprisingly performs well at keeping the temp low, but i think that's because of pascal's architecture. Very efficient indeed. It's very sturdy too due to it's shorter design, longer gpu tends to wobble which may have vibration impact. The only downside to this is that there is no backplate. Overall i'm satisfied with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Videocard is outstanding. Worth the price of upgrading! Nothing to say but good things. First off, less power! 1 6-pin is all it takes to power it. Its cool, I have never heard the fan nor have it spin up during long gaming sessions. Plays consistently in the 80+ fps range on Arma3. And will almost anything out there with aggressive settings. If your looking for entry into the 1000 series GTX line this is it if your budget minded but love eye candy. Go with a winner and get onboard with a GTX card!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid tiny card bought for about $280, good temps (nver went above the 70's C) when playing overwatch 1080p 60fps (locked monitor) on epic (max) settings, im sure it does okay on 1440p but i wouldn't go above 1080p on more intense games. haven't tried overclocking yet as haven't played anything too hardcore on there, but for playing overwatch on most builds this is ideal. used this to replace my rx 480 which i sold cuz its hella expensive now. should fit in any build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works on a macpro It was very complicated to install on the mac but a few lines on Terminal did it... It works as expected and much better than my 580, also, draws so little power !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade card I purchased this card as an upgrade to an Asus GTX 660. That card was a single fan configuration also. The Zotac card is noticeably quieter and much smaller. It was easier to install in my mATX case. I am getting about 15-20 consistent fps more in Wow and Overwatch than the 660 on a 2k display on Ultra settings. B&H currently has the best pricing I could find on it and shipped it very quickly. It is a nice upgrade if you have an older graphics card.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overheats and failed after about a week I bought this mini graphics card because it was the only one available. It has been horrible. It overheats and throttles its clock speed during gaming, resulting in slowdowns and stuttering. After about a week, my computer started to make a loud rattling noise. The bearings on the graphics card fan have failed resulting in the noise. I am overall very disappointed in this graphics card and will never buy a Zotac card again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not New I got my ethereum rig all set up and started to optimize this little card when I realized I didn't have Samsung but Hynix instead. Only 19.5 Mh/s. How unlucky could I be. But then it dawned on my that my pci express pins didn't have any plastic covering when I opened the box. So I'm thinking someone else had already returned it probably for that same reason, or maybe some other.
