Eartec UL4S reviews

UL4S UltraLITE 4-Person Headset System (USA) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Helpful For about a decade I've used some Cobra Micro Talk radios with clip worn mics. This worked okay but I was never really happy with them. After breaking two of them at the last event I noticed these UltraLITE headsets on sale and after a little research, made the puchase. I'm very glad I did. These really make things easier being truly hands-free so we can operate gear with both hands and stay in contact. I've now used them indoors and outdoors and the work well. Extra batteries took a little searching to find. I'm so pleased with these that if they go on sale again I will likely buy more so I have have a set for two different location events happening at the same time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as I expected. The set is good at first blush, but upon trying it I found the battery doors difficult to open and cheaply made. The master unit had a buzz going on and one of the other head sets was so weak you could hardly hear it. I have sent the initial set back for replacement, so we will see if a new set is better in the audio department. The cheaply made part will probably not change and I am concerned how long the set will last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good products Good for film production, sound of headset not enough at noise place. need modified headset sound. Signal stable . duplex work fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing - Buzz I was originally excited to unpack, test and deploy my new system but straight away was crushed when I heard a constant buzz on the master headset, especially noticeable when the volume is up. The remote units have it too, although the noise is pretty much gated until someone talks, upon which the buzz is ungated and you hear it clearly under the dialog. I took the units outside away from any possible interference in the household but no improvement. I will return this system immediately. There is no way I can tolerate that background buzz!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for commercials/films I bought my set for when I do work as a DP, especially if I'm working with multiple operators. I got the idea from a MoVi Operator friend of mine who had a set and I thought for under 700 bucks, it's worth having for smaller sized productions where I can't afford something like a ClearComm system that costs 25K to buy. I give the headsets to my Gaffer, Key Grip and 1st AC when I'm setting up a shot, I can call out lighting orders and where to move the camera. Then if I'm shooting 2 cameras, right before we roll, I had it over to my operator and the focus pullers, that way the operator can talk with an open channel directly to the focus puller. The batteries seem to last for about 2 hours, maybe a little longer. The range feels just as good as any wireless video system out there, like a Teradek or something. I have worn it talking through walls, etc. It definitely speeds everything up for me as a DP. I know there is a base station that allows you to increase the headsets to 8 people at once, which I'm planning to do soon. Never had an issue with them. You do have to treat them well, they are plastic and if you abuse them like people do with Motorola 2 way radios, they will fall apart, but I've had mine for over a year, they're great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish I would have got the 5 pack! These headsets are amazing! Used them for a couple of remote shoots and they worked flawlessly. Can't wait to expand users and buy the hub along with a wired headset and another wireless.
