  • 1Description

Bring two gripped or un-gripped DSLRs, four detached lenses, related accessories, an up to 17" laptop, a tablet, and personal items on your next photo adventure with the black Shape Shifter 17 V2.0 Backpack from Think Tank. The Shape Shifter gets its name from the ability to save space by compressing to a depth of only 3" when empty. The pack features separate laptop and tablet compartments, and a spacious, zippered main compartment with neoprene pockets and wraps to store, protect, and organize gear. On the front exterior of the pack is a pocket for the base of a small tripod, and adjustable straps to secure the upper and lower sections. Additional storage is provided by exterior pockets, organizer panel, and a plush pocket for a cell phone with an up to 5.5" display.

Carry your Shape Shifter by the top handle, or wear with the curved, padded, adjustable shoulder pads, sternum strap, and removable waist belt. Photographers will appreciate the two stretch pockets on the shoulder straps for storing sunglasses and other small items that require handy access. On the rear of the pack is a roller handle pass-through sleeve. Stay hydrated with the included water bottle pouch. And keep your gear dry with the included rain cover. For strength, durability, and weather protection, the pack is constructed with water-repellent fabric coated on the underside with polyurethane.

Shape Shifter 17 V2.0 Backpack (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite camera bag... I shoot with professional grade gear and own several Think Tank backpacks, shoulder bags, plus an assortment of other brands, to haul it all in. I frequently change out camera bags to suit a particular mission. I use a large 70 liter internal framed pack suited for mountaineering and spending several days out in the wilderness; a medium bag for travel and shooting in urban settings; a lightweight sling bag for run-n-gun street photography, etc.. Among all of my bags, the Shape Shifter 17 v2.0 has become my everyday generalist bag. I don't have a need to carry a laptop on shoots, so I use that compartment space to carry a jacket and other personal items like gloves, hat, water. I use one of several front compartments for snacks, lunch, glasses, personal first aid kit, and other stuff to keep me comfortable for an entire day and night of exploring and shooting. The Shape Shifter 17 easily swallows all of my gear (a gripped Nikon D810 + trifecta f/2.8 lenses, filters, loupe, remote release, travel tripod, etc) and with room to spare. Going out the door my pack typically weighs roughly 25+ pounds and it still carries very comfortably due to the bag's thickly padded wide shoulder straps and well padded back. I really like the removable belt, and the ability to use other belts like Think Tank's Pro Speed Belt for more carrying options and added support. The bag looks great too. If I had do it all over again with camera bags and was limited to buying just one bag, the Think Tank Shapeshifter 17 v2.0 would be it, no question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After taking the Shape Shifter on two trips, I feel ready to Trip #1 was a week-long trip in Germany, not necessarily a professional trip, I had my 5-year old twins, wife and mother-in-law with me. Not to mention, I was the ‘travel guide’ so I took minimal photography gear. Trip #2 was an overnight business trip to Chi-town, that called for a couple lenses and camera body. Both trips I brought my massive 17inch computer and I wanted something compact. This is a tall order for that size of laptop, camera and multiple lenses. Oh, and I wanted my stuff to feel safe :-) The SHAPE SHIFTER 17 V2.0 was a perfect solution. I was surprise how far it zipped down while containing everything! Feel confident on a more photography focused trip it would have been stellar! This is my third ThinkTank bag. I have two other professional bas from other companies and I would recommend ThinkTank ALL … DAY.. LONG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great I was skeptical about ThinkTanks claims but they are true. I am currently on the road, with plane and hotel changes, and this bag has really made things easy. The shapeshifter took my D850, the 2.8 14-24, 24-70 and 70-200. Also the 8-15. Why all that? Because the bag could handle the load. There is an outside zipper that expands the size of the bag and I didn’t need to use it. All that stuff and a thin profile. It is well worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great photo bag The bag is flexible. When I need just the computer it works as skinny bag. When I need basics holds computer and Pentax K 1 plus Pentax 18105mm When i need everything, it easily holds the above plus Pentax 70-200 f2.8, Pentax flash diffusers, and room for another lens. I even pack my rain jacket and water bottle Very comfortable ... beats my old sling or shoulder bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome backpack I have several different style camera bags. I use this bag for my travel bag. if you don't like the bottle water holder, it can be removed. I like this because the bag is collapsible. It is very useful when you are in the city. if you need to hold many lenses, it is able to hold many lenses without any problems. The component for computer storage is awesome. I can use this bag for work as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shape Shifter V2.0 I purchased this bag specifically to take on my European honeymoon trip. We did a Mediterranean cruise and initially I was going to buy a mirrorless camera but ultimately decided to take my Canon kit. My everyday bag is a Think Tank Airport Commuter. This was going to be overkill as I wasn't bringing my 300 f/2.8 or my other body. In this bag, I had a Canon EOS 6D with grip, Canon 24-7 f/2.8L II and 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, both with lens hoods. Along with it there was a GoPro with handle, Black Rapid strap, extra batteries, chargers, a MacBook Pro 15, an iPad, a notepad and other incidentals. Everything fit great and I had room to jam some other stuff loosely in between the pouches and such. I'm a big guy(6'3, 275lb powerlifter) and it fit great on my back and carried well on my shoulders. When I'd go ashore on excursions from the cruise, I'd have my camera out but with the 70-200 and GoPro in the bag, along with batteries, memory cards and more. The pull cords on the zippers would tuck in so as to make it harder for someone to access it, though I never felt my safety was at risk the whole trip, it was hopefully a deterrent. This is my 4th Think Tank bag and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a low profile bag(both in appearance and size)to carry a camera and 3 lenses with them. Especially if you are going to be on your feet for long periods of time. Even after 8 hours roaming around Athens, Venice and Kotor, my back didn't feel like I had a lot of gear it was lugging around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An exceptional bag! An excellent & versatile bag! Holds most of everything with lots of room to spare...most recent carry in main compartment were two Nikon D3S, 70-200mm 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8, 17-35mm 2.8 & 50mm 1.4. Additionally, 15” MacPro laptop with charger & cord, card readers & many other items in other compartments. Bag does exactly what it was designed to do, very functional & rides well on my back too. Straps are ridiculously thick & comfortable. Wish it had a grab handle on the bottom of the bag. Very happy with the purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Backpack on the Market I have Think Tank's Airport Roller Derby camera bag which has been rolled all over New York, a few countries in Europe, and San Diego. I'm 74 years old and want to make it comfortable to lug my Nikon D750 and gear around. But, I also wanted a supplement in the form factor of a backpack. There are times when I'll pack my gear into the Roller Derby but at my destination, switch to backpack if rolling didn't make sense. Also, sometimes, just the backpack alone would do the trick. I've had other backpacks that I got rid of long ago. I just couldn't find what I wanted until the Shape Shifter came out. It is just exactly what I was looking for. It holds LOTS of gear (I went for the 17) but when there is no gear in it, the backpack compresses to 3 inches, perfect for storing in a check-in suitcase if you desire not to wear it onto the airplane. To accompany this fantastic product, I purchased also the Think Tank Pro Speed Belt V 2.0 found here at B&H plus two compatible camera holsters and a Think Tank Photo Lens Changer. Think Tank products exude quality; it gets no better. I now have all of the bases covered for travel.
