Gigabyte GA-Z170X Overview

The GA-Z170X Ultra Gaming LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard from Gigabyte is an ATX board that supports 6th generation Skylake Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium, and Celeron processors in its LGA 1151 socket. It has four dual-channel DDR4 slots that accept up to 3866 MHz modules and a maximum capacity of 64GB. With its U.2, M.2, and PCIe interfaces, you'll be able to connect NVMe SSDs for fast loading and data transferring. There are also plenty of SATA 6Gb/s ports for standard HDDs and SSDs; however, they will not deliver the same performance as drives utilizing the NVMe protocol.

As a proper gaming motherboard, the GA-Z170X Ultra Gaming supports both integrated graphics and dedicated graphics cards linked via SLI or CrossFire technology. If you're using integrated graphics, there are HDMI and Mini-DisplayPorts that'll allow you to connect external displays. Otherwise, you can install dedicated graphics cards and other PCIe cards in its three PCIe 3.0 x16 and three PCIe x1 slots. Rounding out the multimedia experience is a Realtek ALC892 high definition codec chip that supports up to 7.1-channel audio and S/PDIF-out. Connect external storage drives and peripherals using its multiple USB ports, one of which features the reversible USB Type-C interface. The GA-Z170X Ultra Gaming also has an Intel Gigabit Ethernet port for Internet access.

Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
Ambient Surround LED
LEDs are built within the motherboard for additional lighting and flair. You'll also have complete control so you can disable them if not needed.
Dual Hybrid Fan Headers
Many PC builders nowadays are opting for liquid-cooled setups. To assist them in their endeavor, Gigabyte has equipped this motherboard with two hybrid fan headers that are also capable of handling pumps.
Intel USB 3.1 Controller and Power Delivery 2.0
Intel's USB 3.1 controller uses the bandwidth of PCIe Gen3 lanes to deliver transfer speeds of up to 32 Gb/s for two 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 ports. Additionally, it also supports Power Delivery 2.0, which enables the USB Type-C port on this motherboard to deliver up to 100W of power.
2-Way SLI/Crossfire Graphics
Multiple graphics cards provide you with better graphical performance for higher frame rates and additional in-game eye candy. This motherboard's PCIe slots are spaced for maximum airflow between cards.
DDR4 XMP Support

NVME Support
With the NVMe protocol, drives can take advantage of the bandwidth of PCIe slots for faster load times, up to 32 Gb/s. By using an M.2-to-U.2 converter, this motherboard can support up to three NVMe SSDs using its U.2 port, M.2 connector, and a PCIe slot.
Double Locking Bracket and PCIe Armor
The PCIe slots have double locking brackets to ensure that cards stay in place. Furthermore, they're built with extra anchor points and a durable steel shielding, allowing them to support heavy graphics cards.
Intel Gigabit Ethernet LAN with cFosSpeed
The Intel Gigabit Ethernet LAN port features cFosSpeed, a network traffic management application that helps to improve network latency and maintain low ping times for a more responsive experience.
DualBios (UEFI)
DualBios provides you with a "Main BIOS" and a "Backup BIOS" to protect the BIOS from failures due to a virus, hardware malfunction, improper OC settings, or power failure during the update process.
Durable Black Solid Caps
