Optimus 3-Axis Camera Gimbal is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Optimus is prime! Optimus is very easy to handle, light, nicely portable, and I just love the flexibility of the single or double handle. Is a very well thought of product and fits perfectly my A7SII on it. The only down side is the weigh limitation, you can only set up a DSLR with small lenses, but still a great product, and it comes with all the bells and whistles!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT SUITABLE FOR GH5 !!! Whilst you can physically fit a GH5 onto the Optimus, its tight ! and if you need to connect an external monitor to the GH5'S HDMI port then forget it, even if you do purchase a ultra thin HDMI cord like I did. I note that the Optimus blocks the view of the GH5's monitor too. Apart from that it's painful to balance as the axis locks should have a fine screw adjustment on all axis. My joystick on the pistol grip only works intermittently and my experience with customer service was poor to say the least. To my knowledge there's no Australian dealer to speak of that can help with technical problems. My gimbal works ok on the pistol grip but when its inverted on the handle mount the motors shake and I've spent days trying to fine tune it in the basecamp GUI with not much luck. Give it a big miss !!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Came TV Batteries are TERRIBLE Been using this unit for over a Year and a half. Two of the batteries went back even following the charing instructions of charging at 2 bars before exhausted. When the batteries stopped being able to charge I contacted the terrible customer service reps that don't speak or write very good english to replace the batteries. They charged me an 100 dollar shipping fee for each battery. When we got the batteries they also stopped charging after 3 months of use, and this is with careful attention to charging and discharing the batteries property. Now I have 3 non-charing batteries and no interest to order more. I also noticed that the gimbal when stressed to a weight limit shuts down automatically or when operating at a angle. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GIMBAL TO ANYONE. This is coming from a shooter that has been using this for well over a year now. We replaced it with a DJI RONIN-M.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am not very satisfied with this unit I originally bought the Came-TV single and while re-charging the unit the battery exploded burned a hole in my carpet and melted the bottom of my Sony A7SII as well as sinched the Sony 10-18 lens. I used one the Came-TV Optimus at a production and liked the double handle system. I just ordered the the Optimus 3 and the the top handle came apart on the second day of using it with the handles. the screws are so small I would not trust mounting a quick release plate, light or monitor to it. I am under the weight limit flying a sony a6300 and a Zeiss 25MM lens. The unit will balance and then just go out of balance after a little use. I then turn it off and then it works and then go out balance again I will be returning this unit. I owned a Movi M5 that worked flawlessly but sold it because it was so heavy to carry for long periods of time. The build quality on the Movi was 10 times better but so was the cost..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Hand-held Gimbal with lots of Flexibility! Here is what I like about the Came-TV Optimus: Build quality is rock-solid and it feels great in your hand. Mine came with a pelican style hard case and many accessories. Battery: The battery is located on the gimbal itself (similar to the Ronin) and not inside the handle so with the available accessories, you can do so much with the Optimus. I've never ran out of battery power and the batteries provide up to 10-hours of operation. They are very light and charge in 20-30 minutes. They also have a power level indicator and require a long press to activate. Handle: The handle attaches via a quick release collar so assembly is very fast and you can relocate or mount the actual gimbal fast. The handle has a 1/4-20 screw hole so you can mount a monitor and other accessories to it. The bottom of the handle has a 1/4-20 and a 3/8 hole so you can mount a quick release plate, small tripod, boom pole or pretty much anything to it. Balancing: Tool-less adjustment levers and a balance plate make this one of the easiest gimbals to balance that I've ever had. Operation: The operation is smooth and very close to my Ronin-M. One feature I love more than anything else about the Optimus is that you can re-position the camera angle to any position and if you hold it in place with your hand (i.e....level the horizon), it will then readjust to that position. Great if you want a dutch angle or a tweak to the horizon. Other gimbals you need to you use the app or a remote to do that. Unlike the earlier version of this gimbal called the Came-TV Single, the Optimus rotates 360 degrees in all directions and you can easily operate this gimbal right-side up, inverted or flashlight mode. The default settings give you 3-modes of operation. Follow Mode: Gimbal will follow your motion and tilt up or down and pan side to side. Pan Only Mode: Tilt will work with the thumb controller but the gimbal will still follow your moves while panning. Great for maintaining headroom on a walking actor. Remote Only Mode: The gimbal will not follow at all and all motion is controlled by either the thumb controller on the handle or the wireless remote control. Payload: The Optimus' payload is only 2.6 lbs so it limits you to mirrorless cameras and native lenses. However, Came-TV just announced a bigger brother version of the Optimus called the Prophet which is nearly identical but has larger motors and can handle up to nearly 6.6 lbs of payload so most DSLR's would work with it. Adjustments: The only thing I wish this gimbal had was an app to make quick adjustments on the field. At present, I need to use my laptop and a cabled connection to fine-tune. However, once I adjusted the software to my liking, I rarely need to adjust it so its not that big of a deal. Features I wish Came-TV would add to this gimbal: A wireless app to make adjustments in the field is the only thing I wish the Optimus had. Overall, I'm so impressed with this gimbal and rarely pull out my Ronin-M unless I want to use a follow focus or accessories. I highly recommend this gimbal.
