Avenview SC-HDM2 Overview

The Avenview 4K HDMI Scaler with EDID Manager provides a scaling solution when you need to use a 4K source with a 1080p display or a 1080p source with a 4K display. It features one HDMI input and two HDMI outputs, and it allows EDID management on output 2. One application this device is useful for is streaming gameplay when your console's resolution doesn't match your display's.

If you input a 1080p signal, output 1 will bypass the signal while output 2 upscales it to UHD 4K. The frame rate of the source signal is maintained. For example, 1080p60 upscales to 4K/60. Furthermore, you can make EDID adjustments to output 2 using the EDID dial or the included control software. If you input a 4K signal, output 1 will downscale it to 1080p and output 2 will bypass it. In either case, the bypassed output can be left alone or connected to a matching display.

Avenview SC-HDM2 Reviews

FYI: Does not scale to different refresh rates

Although the documentation lists a number of different types of inputs and outputs to upscale or downscale, it does not make clear that you can't go between refresh rates. For instance, we were trying to upscale 1080p/60 to 4K/30 and it did not work. It could only scale to 4K/60, which our screen could not handle. That said, for regular scaling this is probably fine.
